In light of recent political squabbles, Rick Mercer has made a statement about all the 'anti-beer' statements flying around from Canadian politicians.. rickmercer.blogspot.com/2005/12/children-are-future-but-beer-is-now.htmlIn response to an “anti-beer special interest group” that runs www.kidsnotbeer.com, he has started his own petition at www.Beernotkids.com.. So far kidsnotbeer's petition is winning with 3331 signatures against beernotkids' 2652 .. "Let’s stop the hate and let the beer drinking begin. Remember: children may be our greatest resource but beer is our greatest beverage. And besides if it wasn’t for beer most of these kids wouldn’t have been born anyway."

For humour's sake... why don't they enslave the kids to make them the world's greatest super beers for rock bottom prices? Unethical this, unethical that... blah blah blah.
Whatever man. Call me a wimp or whatnot, but I think beer is disgusting.

I used to hate beer, but the more you have, the more you start enjoying it. I mean on a long-term basis.

adding to that, EVERYTHING tastes better when your hungry or thirsty, and i think that applies double/triple/some multiple for beer.
Beernotkids is now winning by over a thousand signatures

everyone seems to be forgetting that it's $25 a MONTH not a week. coyne's comments were stupid on the surface but the sentiment behind them was true. the tory plan does little to help organize things and a shitload of that money will be pissed away. if the money is consolidated to start programs and let the people know what's available and where to get access to it at no cost to them it'll be much more effective. and harper looks like a fuckin hyena.

actually it is about $25 a week.. i.e. $1,200 a year.. so technically it's really $23.08 a week for each pre-schooler.. which is ludacris.. you can't even pay a babysitter that much..
i guess it's beneficial if you have a lot of children.. which is probably what the conservatives are encouraging..

i read in the post that the $25/week was a misconception and it was actually a month.. it was 6:30am at the time i read it. i must have misread it. i also read that the daycare program would cost $6/day/child under the liberal plan so the money would almost cover it.
