Get good. Like, not good that you think is good... but, actually good. Then some people will notice you. But not too many. Then you go on tour and let more people know. Then you can meet people online and network and do all that and get contacts for shows. If you were super punk, I'd tell you to still use the classic Book Your Own Fuckin' Life, but, I have my doubts about that... But in these twisted days of superficiality facades you'll probabally be better off finding bands in towns you'd like to play on Myspace and then contacting them for promoters. Plan your route well. And learn a lot about music before you go.

Yeah, I've checked out BYOFB but there doesn't seem to be much going on with that site... I'd say we're good. We're not a shitty garage punk band that got its instruments for christmas last year, so yeah. Maybe Myspace will be the easiest way, thanks for the input.

non sequitor post:
i once met a band from montreal called out of sight who would just show up in a town and try to hook up a show. troy let them shower at his house and they left a permanent ring around the tub. really nice guys though and i wonder what became of them.

start several months in advance. google every town and try to find where bands play. email those venues and those bands. find out what other bands are on tour right now and try to get on a show or two. email as many people as you can(hundreds, not 5 or 6) becuase only 3 of them will reply and they will all say no dice, except for one dude who will give you an email adress of a guy who might be able to help you out and that dude will give you a phone number of a guy who says... no dice. search for all the message boards in all the towns and cities, join em all and pester people. send your cd to the college radio stations, ask them for help. and it doesn't hurt to not suck...

You may think you're ready to walk with the wizard, but you have to ask yourself... are you funky enough? Are you?! Ryan's got it pretty well covered too, I'd say.
