I used the word 'pretentious' correctly. Maybe you interpreted it wrong. You were pretentious in the way that you were labelling a band as sellouts. A heck of a lot of people throw that term around, especially here.
from your post: "2: intended to attract notice and impress others"
Bingo!

awesome...but that quote's not from any of my two posts here. Now i'm just kind of pissed off..not only do you not listen to the band that we're discussing here, but you don't even read people's posts..and then you create false information...weird stuff

And if you're referring to the dictionary meaning...well..I'm not trying to get people to notice me, rise against is...so I'm not the one to be called 'pretentious'...if i wanted the adoration of others i would have posted my full name and address...

i listened closely to rise againsts, revolutions per minute, and their latest album. and the only difference i see is more background vocals and some acoustic stuff on their new one... they still had breakdowns on their other stuff..

Here, I seperated it for you. I hate people who use the word pretentious wrong. pretentious adj 1: making claim to or creating an appearance of (often undeserved) importance or distinction; "a pretentious country house"; "a pretentious fraud"; "a pretentious scholarly edition" [ant: unpretentious] ****2: intended to attract notice and impress others**** ; "an ostentatious sable coat" [syn: ostentatious] [ant: unostentatious] 3: of a display that is tawdry or vulgar my post was more 'sarcastic' than 'pretentious'...using a big word without knowing the meaning to appear smart and witty is the most 'pretentious' thing ive seen in this thread...

I'm not a fan of Rise Against... but it's not suprising that this last album is a lot more polished and produced.. when a band gets signed to a bigger label, they usually get more time to record.. and at a waaaay nicer studio than usual, with people that have produced major pop bands... so it's no wonder they sound a lot more glittery. yay.
