selling out is only selling out if the band gets worse musically... they didnt sell out they just improved and are probably stoked that more people can hear the message their tryin to get across.. in flames = sold out.... theyre music sucks now...

naw naw...rise against suck now...just cause the production got bigger doesn't mean the band got better...if improving is turning from a rad kickass punk band into a breakdown laden cock rock band with multilayered vocals and acoustic interludes, i always wanna suck...

im a fan of talent and riffs in music. and variety. if the whole cd is just a kick snare kick snare beat and some guy picking real fast with some power chords the whole time... then it gets kinda boring. i enjoy all of rise against's music.

a fan of riffs, really??...the whole new album is four chord power chord riffs...i think i especially love the last song where they rip off stickin in my eye..or that one where they rip off their own song 'broken english'..i cant remember what it's called but it has the greatest poppy chorus i've heard since the last simple plan record...check out that clip of them playing by themselves against a starry backdrop on the mtv site...it's cool how the album was so overproduced and pitch corrected that they can't even pull it off live...although taking one of the songs and converting to an acoustic ballad for mtv was genious...the bass player doing these high nasally 'ooh's' in the background got me wet...

I don't listen to rise against much, but I'm more inclined to listen to snoitatnemal. Blah blah=shut up. and turn down the nob labelled "pretentious" while you're at it. K sweet.

i agree with blah blah - whoever s/he might be - that their new album is somewhat lacking. but aside from that, i feel that rise against has actually sold out some of the values they once held. major label and mtv - i'm sure they sleep at night knowing that their message is getting out to more people, but it just rings hollow when carson daly introduces it.
its really early and i don't know if the above makes much sense

I hate people who use the word pretentious wrong.
pretentious
adj 1: making claim to or creating an appearance of (often undeserved) importance or distinction; "a pretentious country house"; "a pretentious fraud"; "a pretentious scholarly edition" [ant: unpretentious] 2: intended to attract notice and impress others; "an ostentatious sable coat" [syn: ostentatious] [ant: unostentatious] 3: of a display that is tawdry or vulgar
my post was more 'sarcastic' than 'pretentious'...using a big word without knowing the meaning to appear smart and witty is the most 'pretentious' thing ive seen in this thread...
