i don't even bother reading this piece of crap publication anymore, it's becoming too hard to find something worth reading amongst the ads and other biasly spewed garbage.

we're in a legal battle with the georgia straight about the unlawful use of our name, our lawyer is the same guy the hand is using to sue bary for playing hand cover songs.
i feel bad that we ended up in an article that slammed our favourite place in the whole world. dudes, we are happy to play with anyone in abby - generally we get insulted after we play there - but it's only because we get asked to play shows with bands that everyone has a giant beef with. you have to take it easy on us...we are from chilliwack.
the gypsy hotel only invited us to play once, then cam moved away, and artax broke up as did our links to the abbotsford scene. i don't think it's cool that the promotors of the show, the georgia straight, and/or the bands playing have adopted a "we're coming to be the abby scene saviours" attitude. We have always had our own shows in garages and living rooms wherever we can borrow space or wherever we can break into easy - mike usinger and the georgia straight have written articles praising the punk rock and diy lifestyle, too bad he didn't pull the dicks out of his ears, and drive out to abby to properly research his article before he wrote about how some guy from whiterock is parachuting in to save punk rock in abbotsford. Shoddy journalism sucks, i just wanted everyone to know that we would have never agreed to have our name attached to the article, and it's never been our attitude that the abbotsford scene sucks. people just don't realize that we subscribe to the same school of internet humour as josiah and steve...
we're not fucking jerks and we love you abbotsford.

it sucks that he was all patronizing in his response to your letter. i guess this means we'll have to bombard them with faxes of every goddamn show we put on here in the valley

Well, I guess this is going to be an unpopular post..
Abbotsford isn't a mecca of music. I'm glad as hell to hear there is a scene going on here. Unfourantly, being 27 and music lover, i 'm not sure what it will do for me. Is there live venues in the city? Yes, city limits. But is that weekly? Bi-Weekly? Can I go on a friday night and have a beer and see orginal, (Non cover) bands? I listen to everything from folk, punk, indie, hop-hop and hair rock. When i was 17, i'd for sure, like alot of you head to the nearest church basment, or dirty all ages bar to take in whomever was playing. However, Now at 27, i don't think that's quite the answer for me.
The straight kind of missed guided their critisism of abbotsford, and allot of you took it personally. There is obviously a musical community here. However, it's not as devopled and supported as some of the larger centers are. Correct me if i'm wrong, but there is no public radio, or independant media covering abbotsford. I'm not aware of any indie records stores here.. The indie infrustruture is not present. The loop is closed. I agree with the point the straight made.. If you want to get the word out about some of the great bands that are here, let the media who support that type of thing know, and if the striaght sucks as bad as it sounds, perhaps some Abbotsford directed dyi media needs to be created to fill in the gap.
The Straight Kind of got it right. I don't blame the "scence", but I blame the city, the location, and lack of media supporting the scene. Correct me on any points that i made above. And if there is somewhere close-by that i can argue the virtues of the new Unicorns EP or Belle and Sebesation, while listening to local punk and drinking beer, i'd love to hear about it. And I will support it.

sounds like a marketing scheme scene politics i'm glad abby doesn't have that bigger shows means more expensive shows keep it real

while listening to local punk and drinking beer, i'd love to hear about it. And I will support it. Established all-ages venues and beer...it's not gonna happen. In other news, Find Him and Kill Him are dope, as well as Any Last Words, Vitamin X and DS-13.

They've been trying to shut down EA in Langley for quite some time. I met John & Jill once. We were hanging out there with a fair sized crowd after watching a production of the Vagina Monologues, and then these guys drive by and hit our friends with an egg, so all these older jock guys and a couple of my friends pile into a mini van and chase the guys down, find them, and on top of it all, it was these two guys that we knew from our school who are baseball players for this big hotshot team, after finding them, we then made them come back to EA and apologize to the kids they hit and the owner.
Yeah... my wang felt huge.
