ok, something reeks of bullshit. nothing against sxe (in fact i have tremendous respect for those who choose to live their lives drug free), but i cant help but point out the fact that i havent seen a gal floorpunch and i've been going to many, many local shows. its kinda disturbing that the boys are dancing while the girls are standing on the sidelines. no, there isn't a rule that girls cant dance, but the environment is so masculine (men on stage, men on the dancefloor) that girls cant help but feel excluded...or at least that what i see. i may be wrong. i'd like people's opinions so i can kinda get different points of view and such. ladies? whaddaya think? again, this isnt a "fuck sxe oi oi oi" post. its a "fuck exclusion" post.

I think you're right. And though some males may be fueling it, I think most are like you and really want the girls to join in and stop being excluded. The more the merrier.
Do the little things I guess. Next time you're on stage encourage the gals to dance as well. In the end it'll be up to them, we can just make it a little more hospitable.

yes. ignore it. also ignore the daggers. the bronco button army will crush yours.
there were a lot of girls at the hope show last night, but they were mostly all preemies. nobody there seemed to appreciate hardcore dancing either, alex did some and then some crusty punk punched him in the back of the head and pushed him over

There's been quite a long period of time now where I've been advocating this idea, Adi. And for the longest time, I had a strong dislike for hardcore because of this. It all seemed in essence to be a macho little boys club, just like the rest of the punk scene, but to a more extreme in a lot of cases. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate hardcore by any means, a lot of that view of the music has changed, but my qualm with it is still that idea of violence being inevitable, despite the fact that it's unnecessary. I encourage females to be as involved in the scene as they can, and from what I know, a lot of them still feel a vast amount of fear as a result of this. I'd like to see more bands with females in them, as well as females at shows. A celebration of diversity. Somehow the obvious sexism still exists.
As I've stated many times before

Wow, I was in the middle of writing that when my computer went crazy like it did yesterday, I think I'm being punished for my crimes... I still had much more to write, sigh. Now, where was I...
As I've stated many times before; dance with eachother, not against eachother. There are no rules to expression of self, but let us look out for eachother at all times. Afterall, violence is oppression, it's simple.
