Monday April 7 JENS LEKMAN with visuals by STEPHANIE COMILANG + KATIE STELMANIS with guest ZEESY POWERS on the “Light Organ" Tuesday April 8 JENS LEKMAN FINAL FANTASY both with visuals by STEPHANIE COMILANG The Music Gallery, 197 John St. Doors 7pm, concerts 8pm Tickets $20 advance at www.ticketweb.ca $25 at the door Wavelength, Images Festival and the Music Gallery join forces to present two nights with Swedish indie-pop sensation Jens Lekman, taking a detour from a U.S. tour to spend some time in a city that is like a second home to him. Lekman has had a deep connection with this city'€™s independent arts scene since striking up a friendship with members of The Hidden Cameras during a European tour. In 2005, he performed a now-legendary show at the Music Gallery along with live visuals by artist Shary Boyle, as well as playing at the Wavelength series earlier that same year and bringing the audience out into the street with him for an encore. For the second night of this two-night Toronto stand, Jens will play as part of a double bill with Final Fantasy, a.k.a. Owen Pallett, violin-looping sensation and Polaris Prize winner, another friend first found in the Hidden Cameras crew. Final Fantasy overhead projection artist Stephanie Comilang will create original visuals for Lekman both nights, as well as Final Fantasy's set. The opening night of this two-night stand will feature Blocks Recording Club'€™s latest vocal sensation, Katie Stelmanis performing a minimal set with special guest, visual artist Zeesy Powers performing on the "€œLight Organ."€

I missed out on advanced tickets as well, so I'm attempting to get door tickets. I CAN'T miss this show. I simply can't.

Oooh, sounds like fun...

I get annoyed when I think about the number of times I've managed to miss Jens Lekman. Before I went abroad for uni, it felt like he was playing Stockholm every few weeks. I manage to catch him once in Manchester, and now I'm home and it feels like he's always in Not Sweden. Well, whenever I remember to check his tour schedule at least

The two shows (7th and 8th) have been joined together for one big mega show at the Great Hall (awesome venue) and more tickets are on sale.

I hate the sound of sound problems. Tell us more about the show if you have time. What was played? How many mobile phones were in the air? and other such useful bits of gossip, speculation and rumour.

I had no looping pedal trouble, incidentally. The PA and monitor setup was inadequate for my needs and Jens' needs. By any stretch, the PA was far too small for the room.

All in all, Paul Hodge (the sound engineer), me, Katie, Jens, Steph and Tammy did our best to try and pull off a persuasive show, but it's impossible when you're working with such a tiny PA in an enormous room.

The Music Gallery has been a great organization to work with in the past, but I'm disappointed that they put so much effort into persuading Jens to extend his tour and come up to Canada, only to skimp on the production details of our show.

That's a really shame as I've only every heard good things about the music gallery in the past.
