I missed it, didn't realise the... the... final? finale? award? whatever was coming around soon. Thoughts on the victor? I'm straight up in love with Feist it's really quite cringeworthy so I'm going to sit this out

Yeah, it was fun! I was really hoping Yamantaka // Sonic Titan would win (and I still think they deserved it), but I can't get mad at Feist.

I'm so happy for Feist and I've been having fun defending her honour to the bitter Bettys. Metals is such a strong album from start to finish and I'm going to cut myself off so I don't go onandonandon.
Gary for Pol(e)aris 2013.

I love Feist, and I love Metals, and I'm very, very pleased that this year a woman won (although that was inevitable with so many of the records being lady-based), but I will admit I was surprised! I was rooting for Grimes or YTST or Japandroids or after her kickass performance, Kathleen Edwards. Still though, props, and props for being there to accept the huge cheque, and props for bringing Snowblink and Auroara along for the glory. Love to Feist! There are very illuminating write-ups of the records on Radio Free Canuckistan if you're wanting closure or knowledge without buying all of the things.

Can someone give me a job? I'm good at whistling, I take nice photographs, I write things down and as of three days ago I can play 'Spell For A Weak Heart' on the mandolin.
All suggestions accepted.

Hey everyone, I know I've been an absolute stranger to this board in the last couple years but I wanted pop in and see how things are with you all. And for those regulars I haven't met yet I want to introduce myself and say hi! ...Hi, I'm Richie. So how are you guys? What's new, what's old, what's now? Also, how are these SHZine boards not more widely considered the coolest place on the internet? I can't even tell you, yet alone even imagine, how drastically different my life would be had I not started plugging myself in here throughout high school. It's a pretty spectacular place.

Four years ago doesn't even seem that long in retrospect too! These boards (not to mention all of us) have seen SO much!
Also, I can't wait to go back to Canada, whenever that happens...

The return of Richie and Paul is indeed good news for OP fandom (and a good omen for the next record!)

I'll probably pop by now and then, what with "In Conflict" on the way. What's everyone up to these days/nights?

Awesome photo, Paul.
In Conflict! You guys, I'm pretty excited. If the live versions of the songs are any indication, it's going to be a bit, I don't know, dirtier than the last record sound-wise. Also we've moved on from the letter 'H' and I don't know how to feel.
As for me, I'm living a double life, working on my masters degree and trying to maintain my spot in the folk/jug band community.

Esther! It's so funny to hear from you again! It's good to hear you're keeping well! I had a wee shifty at "In Conflict", he's roused my curiosity but we'll see, we'll see... I've been meaning to check up on Richie and Simon more but we're all abysmal at keeping in contact over Facebook (partly to do with the horrible time difference), then Richie summoned Simon, Anthony and I last night, so I figured something less real-time might still be useful for keeping in touch... just like... dare I say it? the old days... I still can't get over I created this over four years ago, FOUR YEARS GUYS! I'm an old man now! An old man who's about to be deported for a year before going back up north to uni I was talking to Anthony this morning, or the majority of those here's evening about trying to teach English over in Montreal, but the pay looks awful so it looks like South Korea since they're happy to spoil awful Queers like me. And I'm so gutted I never got to meet you Esther, but I was a bit busy wallowing in my self-pity that I had to leave everyone behind, I literally sulked for an entire evening when Anthony had to leave us. On the plus side, going over to Amsterdam this Christmas to see Paulo from here (the chap featured in my display since he never bothers to show his lovely face) but I speak to him pretty much every day for a few hours. Isn't it weird that I've made 4 of my best friends through this board? I consider that pretty successful *puts golden star on chest*
