Sounds great: "Isobel," violence, performing the male, and probably "I'm gonna emancipate the SHIT out of this dissonance."

Cool lyrics, bro. I'm excited for this new material!
The Barbican is such an amazing institution - I can't believe it's taken me nearly three years in this city for me to start appreciating it.
Has anyone made use of their freeB membership thing? I'm signed up to it but I've not used it for anything yet. I'm going to make a massive effort to milk it this summer.
As a side note, I finished and handed in my dissertation today! I'm wary of posting too much about it on here until I get a mark back, as there's many whispered rumours of scanning and googling in some kind of plagiarism witch hunt. Still, I remember quite a bit from my days in MI5, so here goes. The title I eventually decided on was 'L/y/r/i/c/s/ /a/s/ /L/i/t/e/r/a/t/u/r/e/:/ /O/w/e/n/ /P/a/l/l/e/t/t/'/s/ /"/N/a/r/r/a/t/i/v/e/ /M/e/s/s/"/' (sans slashes)- I think the 'l/y/r/i/c/s/ /a/s/ /l/i/t/e/r/a/t/u/r/e/' bit is a bit twee, but I was running out of time and after fanboying on about Lewis and the Spectrum gang for too long and avoiding any kind of argument I had to kind of tailor it into an argument that pop music is worthy of literary consideration. ack. It was mostly just a close reading of Spectrum 14th C. and Heartland with reference to Auster and Lovecraft, so I'm not sure what my uni will make of it. Hopefully it's not too cringey and I've not managed to butcher the whole thing. We shall see!

That's very cool. Did you have to make a general argument? 'Pop music is worthy of literary consideration' seems too strong; the close reading should have merit in itself. Andrew Bird interactive looping video

Yeah thats gonna be great!!!!! It's like the beginning of my music fanboyism + my current fanboyism. This shit cray. Iknowright?! Hybrid Theory was my sixth grade album Awwww yeeee. Strangely enough, a song on the Linkin Park remix album, I can't remember which one at the moment, with a crazy longish string intro made me embark on an obsession with any music with strings in it......... So without Linkin Park, I might have not have ended up eventually listening to Owen Pallett!!! Weird huh.

That's very cool. Did you have to make a general argument? 'Pop music is worthy of literary consideration' seems too strong; the close reading should have merit in itself. I'm not sure, I don't think that it will really be enough to analyse all of the pieces with out trying to frame them with some kind of argument. In the end the argument kind of turned into me saying that there is a crossover between what is deemed 'literary' and pop music, but it's just that firstly I think my argument itself was pretty badly structured and secondly, I think that's always been apparent anyway, so the argument is probably not really worth arguing! I don't know. I think it was alright, and I wrote a good amount for it. I'm proud of the finished thing, so I guess that's the main thing. And it's done now so there's no point worrying about it. I'll keep you posted when I get a grade back! So without Linkin Park, I might have not have ended up eventually listening to Owen Pallett!!! Weird huh. That's like some kinds of prophecy shi-

I wish there were videos, but I've yet to find one! The only videos are of Owen playing with Tegan and Sara. (Also a good performance!)

H'lo Laura Jane. It was funny being the out of place trans kid at an Against Me! show, buying a girls tee in secret from my friend I hadn't come out to, and coincidentally having a similar experience to the lead singer. Now she's probably the most prominent american transgender musician, I'm interested to see what the industry does to respond. I'm thinking back to Wendy Carlos (The Shining, Clockwork Orange, Tron, and less famous but equally important computer musics) coming out in fucking Playboy of all places, but then going on to have a pretty successful career; have we really come far at all? Can I take her as a role model, despite the fact that she's at the top of a media pillar constructed by her presentation of male privilege? Is she more important than transgender artists out, working, and thus blacklisted from such fame? Will local punk/radical communities, full of as many trends and cliques as any other, start lionizing AM! when it used to be passe?
Those not familiar with punk rock need not apply.
