Los Campesinos! (awesome Welsh band - first time I saw them was in the back of a lawn bowls and snooker club in Altrincham supporting Danielson - no stage, room for maybe 30 people, loads of old people playing snooker near the bar. Amazing setup, very rock and roll) are giving out a zine on their current tour with contributions from assorted - including Owen, evidently!
Anyway I'll go to the gig and get a zine (hopefully) and get it scanned in. Huzzah!

It's a fun little site isn't it. I've spent all night rebuilding my computer after the kids tried to kill it today, so it was a pleasant suprise at 1 am when I tested the rebuild. fun splash screen as well.

Jan at Tomlab asked me to do a cover of "Never Tear Us Apart" by Inxs. I said no. Instead I re-wrote Terry Riley's "In C" using melodies from the Inxs song. For example, I replaced the infamous "long melody" of the Riley original with the infamous "sax solo". We might be playing it at a Fluxus night this week at the Music Gallery, I'll keep y'all posted.

Oh my. I can sort of imagine this one already, and I like what I hypothetically hear.

To show off my ignorance I'd never heard of Terry Riley until Leo Chadburn did the disco song and it took me ages to find out who Terry Riley was. I think I saw a TV program a while back where a performance of "In C" was constructed (I think that's the term they used). Something along the lines of each instrument has a bit to do and as long as they stick to the bit and play in the right order it free form afterwards. I'm guessing that this makes each performance a unique experience. Obviously if I'm wrong then I'll clean the egg off my face later. I hope it all goes well at the music gallery and you and the others pull it off. Actually I reckon you could incorporate a bit of free form expression into Maxiumum Black especially with a drone specialist like Stephen O'Malley around. Okay maybe just wishful thinking on my part.

I notice that the commission from Tafelmusik is not listed among the projects. Is that still something that is being worked on? Is it done? Did wikipedia lie to me and it never exist?
