haha! i decided to wander through "outdated" and "dying" threads. I had stumbled upon this one. im not sure if i even like the idea of bringing it back to life, however the tempting offer of messing up a beautiful thing sounded like too much fun to let pass by. So, i (temperarily) pushed back the visual arts and mixed n' mashed a take on CN Tower. It was my first Remix, but being its all for fun and games, you all my as well get to hear it i only recently discovered the wonders of photobucket, are there any similar tools but for MP3s? Hahaha!!! I totally forgot I started this thread. Good job, Richie!! I liked, I did indeed!!! Truth be told, I have been knitting like some crazed granny on speed lately and since I'm not one to renege on promises, send me a PM if you want one of my just-slightly-less-than-horrible scarves! Although you might have to travel somewhere cold to wear it. Oh! & Sarpedon, you're so right, unfortunately it doesn't seem likely at this point that Owen's going to give us the individual tracks. Oh well. But I'd still be totally interested in hearing your OMD cover. I'm sure it's very good!!

I'll message it to you; it's like Owen's in that it's slow, has no percussion or backup vocals, and has the repeated "awooooh-hooo" throughout the end; but the music is pretty electronic like the omd version. the music sounds great, but my vocals are LAME. Also, does anyone else notice how insanely prophetic Dazzle Ships was? I mean, the album came out over 20 years ago, and it becomes more relevant every day. And to think, if it wasn't for Owen covering the A-side I would still think of OMD as the band that did "If You Leave." A few years ago I found a Dazzle Ships vinyl at a record store in Fairfax(three hours from where I live) for like five bucks; and it was right after Owen was doing the covers; talk about luck and coincidence!

I put it on yousendit; I'll try divshare if it expires. Heres the link, anyway: www.yousendit.com/download/TTZtQ3QwdGpKV05FQlE9PQDisclaimer: The music is alright but the vocals are pretty lame: the song isn't my singing style, and I tried doing it in different keys; but it didn't change much. I'm much better at original music than covers, which is weird because covers don't take nearly as much effort (generally)

Oh how this makes my day! thankyou!haha! i cant belive anyone actually listended to the remix! its horrible!! i feel like some jerky Dj who just through drum tracks on a ff song so stupid teen could freak dance to it.. its a pretty much a mash up though, mainly with CocoRosie's "God has a voice she speaks through me" but slowed down and minor pitch adjustments, i also put the drum beat from "Ghost Mountain"'s intro - the unicorns song in the Cn chorus... anyway thankyou for the comments! suburbanmyth- as for the scarff- AHHH! Hooray!! sarpedon - your cover its great! youve got the whole electronic set up down to a science! it really makes me feel awful for even posting my remix. i didnt know any actual electronic musicians would hear it. it was my first, and my last remix, i appologize... Anyway, the music is Terrific, and you really shouldnt be too hard on your self with the singing, i thought the song in its entirty was fantastic (vocals included!!) id love to eventually post one of my FF influenced covers.. i kind of (totally) take owen approach on covers (violin ((,mandolin, and viola)) loops..). But even more so id love to hear everyone elses too! 'cause i know lots of you guys do them aswell! right?! so post um' if you like. and if not--just post them anyway..

I think the part of the song with the vocal layering saved the rest of the vocals; I always practice harmonizing with myself and use it a lot in my original songs. I mainly do IDM-pop with tons of vocal/musical layers and play electric/acoustic guitar, banjo, soprano and baritone ukulele, and bass. The rest I compose in Reason.

it really makes me feel awful for even posting my remix. i didnt know any actual electronic musicians would hear it. it was my first, and my last remix, i appologize... Don't say that!! If at first you fail, then fail, fail again... But you DIDN'T fail, in fact, it was rather Win-ish! So there!!! id love to eventually post one of my FF influenced covers.. i kind of (totally) take owen approach on covers (violin ((,mandolin, and viola)) loops..). But even more so id love to hear everyone elses too! 'cause i know lots of you guys do them aswell! right?! so post um' if you like. and if not--just post them anyway.. Oh please do!! That sounds really interesting, I'd love to hear some of them! Sadly, my violin playing has not got to the point yet where I have really attempted any FF covers... actually, that's a lie, I've attempted & sucked horribly at it. So I'd greatly like to hear what other musicians are doing and be inspired. Yay!!

"electric/acoustic guitar, banjo, soprano and baritone ukulele, and bass" wow, thats a great line up ya got there!! i also am a HUGE strings fan. i too play the guitar (haha yes acoustic and electric..) AND! also the ukulele (but who doesnt play that around here!!), i mentioned earlier the mandolin, violin, and viola, but i also play (but typically do not "loop") the cello, theremin, and banduria (which is a spanish lute..) but ive always wanted to play the banjo ever since i became a sufjan fan, but my friends got to it first so it became off limits ... im glad to here there are other musicians out there! (Reason, wow..snazzy!)

(Reason, wow..snazzy!) your instruments are a lot more exciting! plus, you should totally get a banjo, anyway, I love playing "For The Widows..." by Sufjan from Michigan and singing it; it feels so good! and the "great potential" comment wasn't meant to be backhanded or anything, I just meant you did really great with what you were given

Haha! alrighty! eventualy...its been forever since ive recorded. i honestly cant see when i'll ever get around to a solid recording..i can be very particular, especially when given the chance to do a retake, but maybe i could do a "live" version (not actually performed live, just done in one take..) hmm..FF covers.. i'll do them time to time. but they just turn up way to simplified and in comparison and are awful, mostly because they were written by someone who also loops. what i really enjoy is taking other peoples songs and doing to them what owen does to his covers..id much rather do one of those if you dont mind? plus whod really want to hear a crappy version of win and regine? not me!
