There are only two unannounced bands for the festival. One for London and one for Berlin. They are neither confirmed but almost there. Both are unfamous but extremely, extremely spectacular. and none for vienna? tough luck....

Confirmed! HOLY SHIT! Stephen O'Malley and Alexander Tucker are confirmed for London, playing a special set as a duo. AAAAAA! Stephen O'Malley you'll know as the driving force behind Sunn O))), and the amazing KTL band and the soundtrack to all those Banks Violette shows you've been to. Alexander Tucker plays with Jackie-O Motherfucker but more importantly put out "Old Fog", the best record of 2005. The two have recorded together before as Ginnungagap, but from what they've told me, their set in London will be very unique and certainly end in tragedy. www.myspace.com/alexanderdtuckerwww.myspace.com/flightofthebehemothwww.myspace.com/stephenomalleywww.myspace.com/ktlruleAnd closing the evening in Berlin... MAX TUNDRA!!!! NO WAY!!!! He's the best one-man band on the planet. His closing set at Primavera 2005 was the greatest musical event in history. His last record came out five years ago and if he doesn't play a bunch of new songs, we're going to fuck him up. Seriously, this will be the highlight of everyone's year. I'm not the only person spewing superlatives about Max Tundra. Read: www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/record_review/19768-mastered-by-the-guy-at-the-exchangeOr when they reviewed YACHT's lovely new record, they out-and-out stated what we've all been feeling: "It's hard to believe in this age of exhaustive and exhausting music coverage, but there are still times when albums that could someday be hugely important slip through the cracks and all too quickly out of people's minds. The most glaring example of this injustice I can think of is Max Tundra's 2002 record Mastered by Guy at the Exchange, an album me and a small pocket of the Pitchfork hivemind is viciously in support of, even half a decade later. An absurdly inventive and manic piece of computerized composition, MBGATE seemed to be fanfare for the future of pop music, or at least the indie-prefixed strain thereof, where modern technology met playfully skewed catchiness. Yet the sound of lap-pop veered instead towards recapitulating synth-pop tropes and rutting in melancholy, and nobody seemed to notice Max Tundra's valiant efforts." And look how fun it is! www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQ8koaNN8Eo

I second that - it would be nice to know the lineup order. I am also wondering if there will be differences in the lengths of the gigs. On last.fm Final Fantasy is shown as a headliner, which would suggest that he would play the longest. But on the other hand there is no biggest star indicated on the official site of the festival... It would be nice if this first option was true, because I go to Berlin mainly because of Final Fantasy. But anyway this will be one of the best gigs of 2008 in my personal rank - and can't wait! ;D
Two more questions about Berlin concert: - Will there be an afterparty? (fingers crossed) - Cameras are allowed, aren't they?

"Owen Pallett, singer/songwriter and head of Canadian band Final Fantasy will both curate and headline the Maximum Black Festival in London, Berlin and Vienna in February/March 2008."
-from the maximum black fest website in the about section.

I so wish I could go there...Vienna would be perfect, since I'm studying in Salzburg...but I'm in Sweden until June. However, I'm sure it will be 3 great concerts/festivals

Just in case anybody is interested, Max Tundra is DJing tonight at The End in London, and then playing live on March 5th in London in case you're distraught about missing him at Maximum Black. Much love xxx

Much love xxx Oh sure, just downplay the fact that the second date is supporting the fuckin' legendary Casiotone for the Painfully Alone. Thank you for the timetable, Jules! I am entirely psyched.

@ jules:
do you know the timetable for vienna too?
further the arena homepage mentions "Anschließend wird es noch diverse Aftershow-Party-Aktivitäten geben." (which means "afterwards there will be various aftershow party activities")
can someone be more specific on this?
