hi everyone, first post here so i attended that utterly amazing show @ le divan du monde on the 15th, and i recorded the stunning stunning version of "Cli[c]quot" (is it cliquot or clicquot?) he performed as an encore, so i thought i'd share it with you, i hope Owen won't mind [if that's any problem let me know and i'll take the links down] so there it goes > the image quality is below average but the sound is nice (but above all, the song is fantastic) fr.youtube.com/watch?v=RVAvzeMqD5oand a better version for you to download : download.yousendit.com/33B726EF63F2D5C3 (it's 98Mb and 4 minutes long) voila, i hope you enjoy it !

Thanks so much, Flo. What a beautiful cover.
I wish I could nick the sound from it.

That is truly wonderful.
I love the way he just produces these fine covers as if he'd been playing them all his life.
Thank you so much flo.

Glad you liked it sorry I fucked up the lyrics
It's not a cover it's a co-write. Zach wrote an instrumental and gave it to me and I wrote the melody and lyrics. I haven't heard the finished version and didn't even know it was called Cliquot until I read this post
Given that Zach's voice is "the gold" of Beirut I'm pretty sure this track will be the one that people rush for the skip button
Which would be an OK thing------> testament to the level of quality of Flying Club Cup, methinks and Beirut in general (best band)

Zach wrote an instrumental and gave it to me and I wrote the melody and lyrics. oops sorry then, i didnt know that and yes the title is Cliquot for sure, though its meaning somehow remains obscure to me but i may be a bit slow there, does it mean that *you're singing it on the Beirut album? either case, i can't wait to hear that record, it sounds so promising, gulag orkestar was the soundtrack of my summer 2006 +++setlist of the paris gig, i'm not 100% sure about it, i kept meaning to write it, and kept forgetting : adventure flare gun thats when the audience died many lives what do you think will happen next paris, 1919 hey dad the cn tower this is the dream of W&R this lamb sells condos interview (encore 1) spell for a weak heart ( <3 ! ) song song song (encore 2) cliquot

Owen: [Laughing] Well, I do think that self-deprecation and self-doubt are tied into narcissism. Ed: Yeah. It’s called “fishing for compliments.” Owen: No, it’s more than that. When somebody says “Oh, my album is shitty,” it’s because they believe that they as an artist are capable of far more than the actual results would have the world believe. Ed: So you’re saying you’re a narcissist? Owen: Maybe. Gays and narcissists have a long list of common traits. But I’m actually totally pleased with my shitty album. Ed: You don’t think it’s a piece of shit. You’ve vehemently defended it to many people. Owen: Uh, not, not really. I’ve defended some of the choices I’ve made but I still think the album is a stupid piece of shit. Ed: Wow. Well, you heard it here. Owen: But that’s not self-deprecating, I’m just deprecating the shit I make. As for my self, I think I’m pretty cool. (Taken from www.out.com/detail.asp?id=21164)!
