I'm not sure if everyone has the same exact leak, but in itunes under the genre for the record it says...ELECTRONIC. WHY. Haven't they read his interviews where he addresses this exact folly? Jeeze.
Also, The Great Elsewhere is UNBELIEVABLE. So is everything else, oh god. I can't wait to get my vinyl!

I have two words to describe this record: Holy shit.
If we're going into more detail then it's absolutely amazing, and I want to make it into a play.

I'm sorry if someone's already asked this, but When I tried to buy Heartland from i-tunes today, a message keeps popping up saying it's no longer available or perhaps has moved to somewhere else in the store--?? Where would it have moved to? If I search Owen Pallett, it brings me back again to the same place. I really want this album! Has anyone else had this happen? Did itunesUS realize their error and remove it from their shop? If so, they would be better off returning it so people can legally get it if, as has been reported, its already out there for free. Preferably they say "oops we fucked up" and give Owen a super xmas bonus delivered by Steve Jobs (who should be dressed in his PJs wrapped/tied up in ribbon with a huge bow on him a la Christmas Vacation). Oh, and they should release it on itunes Can so I can buy it and listen to it while I'm driving all over hellshalfacre this christmas prior to my vinyl arriving. Looks very much like they have shut the stable door after the horse has bolted. Hopefully it doesn't do much damage to sales with the album seeping from every paw of the internet. I suspect Owen will be philosophical about this, but I can image a few Domino Records people bouncing off walls. The funny thing was that it even said the release date was 2010 right underneath the flashing buy leak here sign. Saying all that, I suspect it will make a bit of publicity for the album, so maybe it will attract it a little bit more attention. Allegedly..just in case its all a dream and I wake up in a moment

Anthony, I broke and got it last night. Sitting staring at nothing with giant head phones on. I literally felt like I was flying during some parts of it. I've never heard anything even remotely like that before, ever. I'm both proud and intimidated by Owen. I want to make it into a play. I want it to be a play. for everyone who still hasn't, preorder preorder preorder

Anthony, I'm both proud and intimidated by Owen. Both musically and personally, this. My headphones are broken, but I gathered up all the change in my household and found about $5. I'm heading to the convenience store to gather some D batteries for my vintage, 4-track equalizer (!!!) boombox. Then I'm going to remove the speakers from the side and put one next to each ear, and just lie on the floor while it washes over me. I was so happy when I woke up and realized that this wasn't a dream. Tryst With Mephistopheles is growing and growing on me like wildfire. I appreciate the live tracks even more as a totally different being from these recorded tracks.

I think I cried a bit during E Is For Estranged I really don't know what to say about it. This is album is bascally perfect. From the little layers, the little touches (like the electronic buzzing during The Great Elsewhere) to the melody and the lyrics (Oh Heartland, Up Yours! being the perfect example). And it flows so well. This makes me much more excited for his show in Montreal. If I didn't focus on what I'm writing now, it would only come out as weird garbles of enjoyment.

I am listening through it for the first time right now. I just finished "The Great Elsewhere" and I am in heaven.
More thoughts to come when I return to earth.

I still haven't come down, otherwise I'd be reviewing up a storm.
This is like the second time I fell in love.

It's been up on iTunes at least since December 18th... I happened to search Owen Pallett on a whim after seeing his name change and discovered it then. Kind of a shame it took them so long to fix their error.

I can't believe how good this is. I like it better than the live recordings, though they stand out as something totally different. As far as I'm concerned, this is probably better than anything released in 2009, and 2008, with the possible exception of Deerhunter.
I get a feeling it's a orchestral vs. electronics theme going on through the album. I really love the sound of it. And sometimes it sounds electronic, but is (or could just as well be, I don't know) normal instruments.

Hey guys
The iTunes accident was in fact an error on Domino's part. The iTunes mainframe automatically makes albums available on their release date, but there was a clerical error and the date was entered wrong. It's really no big deal all round. And I'm very glad to hear you're enjoying it!

Ah, that makes sense Enjoying it might be a slight understatement... Tryst With Mephistopheles is possibly the prettiest thing ever. If I let myself listen to the whole album now I'll never go to bed.

Well, we all know it would have leaked eventually. Anyway, Owen, the album is gorgeous, and congratulations on its release, accidental and temporary as it may have been.
