Am I crazy, or is the video version of This is the Dream of Win and Regine different from both the lp version and the Dream of Emma and Cam?
Granted, I haven't yet received the copy of Has A Good Home I ordered, but the mp3 of Win and Regine I found floating around the blogosphere is definitely a variation from the video version.
Well regardless, hi, I'm Sam. I'm a relatively new FF fan and have pretty much given up hope of ever seeing him live because I'm stuck in Alabama. My constant search to find more about the release of the It's A Disaster! Records 7" led me here.
So.. uh.. if it's cool, I'll just be hanging out.

It's mixed differently. There is an archived post in here...
Owen himself: "Basically Al P mixed the original version on the LP and I remixed it behind his back and he wasn't happy.
So he came back and remixed it for this version. I think both versions are good. My favourite is the motown version of the song that will appear on the 7" but that's just me."
There you are.

Owen, if you come across this:
I heard a live version of "this is a dream" that had different drums in the background. it had a bit more stomp to it. is this the motown version that will appear on the 7"? has this version been recorded?

Two versions of the song. The Has A Good Home version (Win & Regine) and the Young Canadian Mothers version (Emma & Cam).
"Win & Regine" is slow and the vocals are out of tune. "Emma & Cam" is faster, with a strange drum part and a bass line, and the feel is decidely icy.
There is also a 2nd mix of "Win & Regine", which has new vocals and a new mix (the drums are louder). That version is found on the video.
If anybody cares about these things, this song was featured as the closing track on Oscar de la Renta's show at NYC Fashion Week last month. Ooh la la! And it will figure heavily in the season finale of Godiva's.
Ironically enough, if there was any song I wish I could "delete", it would be this one. I think it's musically boring and the sentiment is all wrong.
The reason there are so many versions recorded is because it's like trying to buy your ugly child a suit. You keep trying, but it's hopeless.

The reversed loop is tantilizing, but i never felt like i could never discover a mood for the song. I didnt feel anything conveyed other then "hey this sounds awesome!" but luckily its the only song I felt that way about. ...I hope that didn't sound snooty.

The version you played at Lee's Palace with Lex was amazing! The drums definitely spice that shit up.
