Hey guys,
Here are some notes re: the 7"...
An email is going out to all the people who ordered the record thus far - just a mailing status update, etc.
Regarding the 'skip' in "this is the dream..." this is the first that I've heard of the issue. Neil, Owen, Leon, me and countless others have played the record without this problem. As mentioned above, it is quite possible that it is a counter weight issue. I would try adjusting the weight and lightly cleaning the record - sometimes there is left over vinyl residue on new LPs. feel free to email me directly if you the problem continues: (cam at escapegoatrecords dot com)
Re: money orders/'fans without credit cards'...please email me directly (cam at escapegoatrecords dot com) and we'll hook you up.

I am indeed in Toronto. I got both copies of the 7" at Soundscapes.
I'm a DJ, I own two turntables, and I tried playing the record on both of them. Same result each time - it skips right at the "keep the crowds away" line towards the end, so the line keeps repeating. I guess something could be wrong with my turntable setup, but I haven't had the problem before, and I thought it was weird that it skipped in exactly the same place, on two different copies of the record, on two different turntables.
Sorry if I sound like I'm complaining, I have no complaints about the music on the record (love the Peach Plum Pear cover). I guess if no one else is having this problem then it's just my bad luck. Thanks for your replies, I appreciate it.

Don't be crass. This is their first vinyl release and they are working hard.
And furthermore, if there is a manufacturing defect, then we have a big problem. Actually, an enormous problem. Cam and Neil are just making sure that the problem is with the record and not the turntable.
Jtrobot, could you try your 7" on somebody else's record player and let us know if the skip still happens?
And most importantly, I apologize that this has become an issue. I'll take you out for whiskey sours.

there are no 'fuck you' here. in fact, there is no distributor here either. that's the problem.
I would think that you guys would understand the problem here. We are 4 guys with 40+ hr/wk day jobs. We can only move so fast. If you want the 7" to arrive in one piece, we have to be careful about packaging. If it was as simple as throwing them in some envelopes and putting some stamps on it, it would be done already.
I understand that everyone is excited to hear it but come on, we are regular and real people that do this label stuff because we like the music we're involved with. we've never told anybody that we were smooth operators, we've never talked like a bigtime label. we are very small and we've never said anything differently.
as for the glitch, we've checked a whole bunch of the records and they all seem fine. there is however a small margin of error from the manufacturer so its possible that a few of them have glitches. as cam said, if you have this problem, email him at cam@escapegoatrecords.com and we'll fix it. generally speaking though, there doesn't seem to be a problem on the ones we've checked.
so, again, we're sorry. we are not trying to be assholes. if the amount of time it took us to actually press the record is any indication, this really shouldn't come as that big a surprise. I'm not making excuses, I'm just saying.

well, I'm sorry to be so defensive, it's just that I feel really bad that it has gone this way. it's so unfair that we've been loving the hell out of this record for almost a month now and you guys haven't got your hands on it yet.
we were looking into distro before the record came out but most companies said it was too risky to get involved with a 7" (cost of shipping and low price just don't mix). In the end, I'm kinda glad we're doing it by ourselves, but man, is it ever a headache sometimes.

we finally shipped a small handful of them and hope to ship a bunch more on Saturday. again, so sorry for the wait.
we have not cashed out our paypal so your money is still safe. we are absolutely not trying to take anybody. we're just having trouble keeping up with demand.
jarett tree, we have a few left, but not a ton (I'd guess 30 -50). orders are still going steady, so you should probably get your name on the list now.

At least one other person (from A Soundtrack For Everyone) has had the same problem with the first track.
