"Owen Pallett (Final Fantasy) told me a few weeks ago that he'd been thinking of inviting Destroyer to tour with him this spring, the deal being that Owen with his harpsichord and string quartet would serve as Destroyer's backing band."
If this were to ever happen I would work ten jobs and live off scraps and sell my records and my books and any of my innards that I don't especially need and I would quit all ten jobs and not leave a note for my mother and I'd pack a lunch and book a flight and comb all sorts of foreign cities and sleep in foreign bus stations and assume a new identity and feel forever more as if my ears had been stuffed full of lilacs and plutonium and tiny silver ball bearings. I like to make plans known before they are actually implemented. It strengthens my resolve.
Dan has a band now, this won't be happening. Destroyer's Rubies is good but not as good as Your Blues. Dan's a better songwriter than Marc Bolan but I still like T.Rex more than Destroyer in "rock mode". Why doesn't Destroyer embrace its true future as "the princes of MIDI"?
I also heard Jens Lekman wanted to do a tour together in a similar format. I don't know Jens that well, we ate Vietnamese soup together once and I got lost in his fair Swedish eyes. Later, he said "Yes! I want to tour!" Then, I heard that he decided he didn't want to tour anymore with anyone so that's that.
Bloc Party wants to do some shows together, but wouldn't PW think I was trying to steal his fire or something? Probably.
Grizzly Bear wants to do things too. Edward is really cute and his band is amazing. I worry I'd get heartsick and jealous.
Here is a little truth, though. This is actually happening! I'm producing some new Reg songs. We might make it a split album.

Oh!
I like European Oils from Rubies. I like where it crests a bit, and he sings about gettin'-it-on-with-the-hangmans-daughter and needin'-to-feel-at-peace with her father, THE FUCKIN' MANIACCCCCCCCC, etcetera. I like it when he employs all his tricks like; irregular meter!; occassional curse words! But but but, I cannot seem to much care for the rest. Which is tragically sad.
I had started to believe I was the only one who thought so much of Your Blues. Do you know what happens when you tell boys in corduroy that Your Blues is your absolute favourite? They peer at you strangely! And stop buying you drinks! And I cannot for the life of me understand it, because I first played that record when I was sat on the parquet in my ex-boyfriends bedroom and when it got to that 1:54 mark in Notorious Lightning my jaw hit the floor and my head fell off and when it kept on climbing and peaking and unfolding and whatever it is that music of THAT NATURE does I turned to stone/jelly and had to be taken by the shoulders and given a hard shaking. Mmmmm.
And, you know, Jens Lekman is officially back in the game! He is feeling much better, I think, and is touring the UK in February and Australia in March.
And Grizzly Bear are the Grizzly Best.
And oooh, split album.
