This song is the (overt) queer 'anthem' that Xiu Xiu has needed for a long time. If I hadn't come out already, I would have listened to this song a bunch before doing to gain the courage, rather than taking a couple of pain killers (oops).

Though I was barely 16 when I came out. Does that negate the whole "but it's your age" part of the song? I don't think so. Whatever. I love this song.

thats what i thought at first too, but apparently this is about an older man having or wanting to have a relationship with like, a little boy. thats the "but its your age" part. at least thats what someone said on songmeanings, and it makes more sense in my opinion, when i listened to it again. so heh, no it probably wouldnt be the best gay anthem.

and also the "young runaway, upstanding man" part is a bit of a hint.

I guess that is pretty logical though. I never read songmeanings' comments. When I first heard it though, I had this mental picture in my head, so when I read the lyrics, it all just warped itself to fit that picture.

Either way, older* guys are hot.

Indeed. I don't often think guys in bands are hot, but Jamie Stewart, and Yoni Wolf, and a very few others are pretty hot. But also various asshole gym teachers, to history teachers, I've had throughout middle school and high school. If I had to pinpoint what 'made me gay' it would probably be my 7th grade Math/Science teacher. Mr. Rochester. Mmmm.
