and ches did a really good job with "covering" greg saunier's percussion on hives hives live. while there were still some similar elements, he made it unique and interesting
if for nothing else, ches belongs in xiu xiu for accomplishing that
also, i remember back in the day when members starting leaving xiu xiu and a few people were unhappy about that... and when cory left, i was very saddened... and honestly, i didn't like caralee's addition to xiu xiu when she first started... but the xiu have constantly evolved, pretty much with a new incarnation with every album, which is one of the great things about them - they're always trying something new... so if you're really unhappy, just wait - either you'll find that you learn to appreciate the new member, as i did with caralee, or the lineup will change and you'll be happier, or more likely, the lineup will change, and you'll suddenly realize that you miss what you didn't like before

Congs For Brums is brilliant. I wasn't sure what to expect out of just one guy drumming but it was so so brilliant. I don't think I've really seen anything like it. If there's anything I don't like about Ches's drumming in Xiu Xiu is that it is not enough like Congs For Brums. His drumming really made Brooklyn Dodger, though.
