because i can't place what song the lyrics jamie quoted on the xiu xiu blog: ' "like a sweetheart would" (OMG is it lame to quote the least liked xiu xiu song on the xiu xiu blog if you are the person who wrote that song that everyone, even dr. strangelove, hates) ' i can place the way he sings it, and even some other lyrics in the song, but i can't think of the song for the life of me. what is it?

some of the lyrics make me giggle, but they're not supposed to. that might have been because i think when i was listening to it sleepily on the bus i mishead it as "my armpit is like a butthole"

a-and i'm pretty sure giggling is okay when one is hearing about sweethearts hurting buttholes. i haven't said butthole in probably ten years. butthole. i said it out loud.

i like the idea of the song, but i just don't think it works... i mean, xiu xiu is my favorite band, but i can't expect to like every single song recorded by them... just like i don't like certain paintings by picasso or warhol
oddly enough, i don't ever remember telling jamie that i didn't like that song... the only place i ever remember discussing the fact that i didn't like it was on this board... then again, i could just be forgetting

i like parts of the song, but how it changes really abruptly towards the end makes it feel really disjointed and is sort of confusing.

i think its one of the most aesthetically unsettling pieces on A Promise and arguably the most terrifying bit of the album. listen to jamie's phrasing and the vocal bends--it's really remarkable. "eyes" on a pineapple refer to the brown, spiky points on the outside. (also--this is irrelevant to the song, but pineapples grow ON THE GROUND, NOT IN TREES!!!!!)
