Sorry, i just have to randomly point this fact out every few months just to get it out of my system.
how is everyone?
I've been so out of the loop. I haven't bought the last 3 releases by xiu, including the air force. Mainly because i didn't like the singles and was afraid it was going farther away from the initial sound of their noise/industrial pop and more into the semi polished FM arena.
Make fun of me all you want! I just want to know how the OG xiu fans feel about air force.

I love the new polished sound. Granted, the noise side is always great and appreciated and will probably reoccur throughout the future albums.
Either way its Xiu Xiu, and no one has or will match them in my book!

I pretty much feel the same way.
Even though it sounds very polished it still sounds like Xiu Xiu to me. I like it alot.

i like how xiu xiu has evolved with every album, but still maintained that special something that makes them xiu xiu. Yeah, i'm still partial to Knife Play & Fag Patrol, but i like that they've avoided stasis by constantly trying out new things... of course, i haven't liked every album along the way (i really didn't like La Foret very much [outside of a couple songs], and i'm still on the fence about A Promise [although again, i love a number of the songs]), but i really like the Air Force...
polished? yes... as polished as Fabulous Muscles? no
p.s. welcome back, if you are indeed back...

most of the people on the board are OG fans.
i love the air force - minus a few tracks, which i just don't love; i still like them though.
i prefer kinfe play or a promise though.

Fresno, the home of K-fed! I was a modestoian. I hate that area though. Might be moving to Reno in the future. But, still not sure about that one. Thanks peeps. I do think i'm back on the board for a while. If i can remember to check it. I might go buy airforce tonight. I mean if it's better than FM than i can't be too disapointed. And for what it's worth, i still liked FM a moderate amount. But in comparison, you know... it lacks. anyways, yeah.

I love the Air Force. Honestly the only song that I don't love on the album is probably PJ, and I dont know why, it's just that out of all of them, that one kinda drags it down a bit. I still like it, just nowhere near as much as any of the other songs. pwnage

I still like A Promise the best.
I really can't get enough of Bishop, CA and Save Me Save Me

i will alway be partial to knife play, a promise and fag patrol. there is one or two songs off off a promise i don't care for (walnut house being the strongest that comes to mind) but the only album i never really got into was la foret. clover is up there with my favorite xiu xiu songs but as an album it feels weak.
that said, i think the air force is fantastic. i love the direction they are taking. i don't feel they are sanitizing their sound in the least. i see it the same way as pj harvey (rid of me/ stories from the city). they are changing their production, but i hope they always will. thats one of the things i love about xiu xiu.

yesss
these are the answers i wasn't really expecting, but was hoping for non the less. I really hope i can get into the album. I miss not listening to XX everyday and being obsessed.
and suprisingingly A promise was mucher harder for me to appreciate than knife play. It took me so long to enjoy it, but the production on the knife play, chapel of chimes, and A promise, is seriously the best i've ever heard. It's like the took the idea of "closer" but desided to record in a dungeon while loosing all hope with life.
Even walnut house grew on me. I can think of worse XX songs than that one actually.
I did, however like how La foret seemed to be XX finding their noisy roots again, i just didn't like the songs or production at all.
I'm going to go buy airforce now. Enough rambling from me.

I don't know why people hate Walnut house, it's a beautiful song. and yes, knife play is their best album as a whole, the lyrics are spectacular. Probably my least favorite song by them is juarez because it's pretty dumb.

each record has its unique moments, knife play i feel is the litmus test. however a number of the people on this board have been fans since day one and its always hard to shake off that love of the first record.
i second tu mi piaci, its incredible.
