so i was thinking since xiu xiu is so strongly influenced by 20th century composers, and since this is probably a place in music that not everyone is exactly the most familiar with (myself very included), we could have a thread using yousendit files to maybe put up some of the works that some of you might have for others to listen to and check out.
to start out, does anyone have stuff by toru takemitsu? the very little i've head of his (parts of an autumn garden) was mindblowing, and if anyone has that piece in particular they could put up, or any pieces they like even more, that'd be a good place to start.
eh?

i've pretty novice when it comes to modern composers. but steve reich's "six pianos" and "clapping music" make me wet. as do john cage's "suite for a toy piano" and "in a landscape."
sonic youth introduced me to 20th century stuff.

on a somewhat related note, though not particularly related to xiu xiu (forgive me that), does anyone have ennio morricone's crime & dissonance compilation that they could upload or send me somehow? i'm reluctant to buy it, but have come so close to getting my hands on it several times lately without it working out that now i'm totally driven to have it. thanks?

That Morricone is somewhat elusive; might just have to shell out for it?!?
Is this thread limited to just contemp. composers that directly influence XIU? And if so, what range of "sub-genres" are we talking about--e.g. minimalism, post-serialism, polyphonism..? (forgive the ignorance; not totally caught up w all this yet)
*Like* the Cage, Penderecki, & Messiaen mentioned above... I've been adding to my Britten, Monk, Ligeti lately, anyone interested?
