Aside from Xiu Xiu and a handful of other bands, I really listen exclusively to hardcore and hip hop. So it's kind of odd that if it came down to it, Xiu Xiu could very well be my favorite band. Does anyone else listen to a lot of music that is not at all like Xiu Xiu?

yeah kind of. immortal technique has to be my second favorite, begind xiu xiu. but they are both outrageous and political, so maybe they are more alike than i thought.

no he means like, if you listen to dionne worwick or olivia newton john or something. something thats not associated or even thought of as sounding like or belonging to the xiu xiu music "scene". (as lame as that sounds.. i cant word it any differently)

oh! well in that case, i still stand by everything i said. minus radiohead. radiohead can be compared to xiu xiu in some ways.
but daniel johnston and the rolling stones. so un xiu xiu. and still my favourites.

during the woo woo woo.
and can't you hear me knocking has to be the best song to do drugs to.
AND wild horses was the first song i ever sang and got paid for.
that album means a lot to me.

i listen to lots of early synth music from the late sixties on. a big part of my life is old synthesizer obsession. i.e. Space, Cardboard, Fun Fun, Tink, Telex, Kraftwerk, .. and as the list gets longer we get closer and closer to the end of the 70s, when pretty much everything had been created.
ive been a huge belle and sebastian fan for a looooong time. they were one of the first bands i ever loved. i own every release except for a few rare 7" and a 10" and the new single (not crazy about it).
so other then fancy avant-garde pop, i listen to those two a lot. also: bjork.

i love shakira! well, i love her old stuff... now that she's singing in english, and the music is more techno/disco, it's not as fun anything with her voice I can dig, but the Spanish stuff I've heard is so much better than her English stuff. But Hips Don't Lie is so damn cool, and I liked Don't Bother too from her new album
