so there are a lot of reccomend music/what are you listening to threads, but this one is different -- i swear.
i think we are all pretty obsessed with xiu xiu, or, i guess it's safer to say that we all really really enjoy xx.
so, what is one other band that is as close to you as xx is?
as for me, i dont really have another extreme favortite.
but i want to hear yours!

the rolling stones -- i've seen them 14 times live, and i grew up with them. i learned how to sing wild horses and satisfaction and brown sugar before i could say "mama" or "dada". sort of at least. there's a big history with my dad and i with the rolling stones. most of the time, it's our only bonding tool. he took me to my first stones show when i was two. this family loves the stones so much, we hate the beatles.
radiohead -- i'd explain why, but i'd take up at least three pages of this thread and i actually have to go soon to see radiohead live again omg excited. maybe i'll explain the whole radiohead thing when i get back, and am inspired from the show.
daniel johnston -- truly amazing songwriting. one of the greatest in history. so simple, but so heart breaking and just as emotional and sincere as xiu xiu. maybe even moreso. his songs also hit close to him, because i also suffer from manic depression.

I need to look up the parenthetical girls, everony keeps mentioning them.
obserssion wise, I dig on the Islands/ Unicorns as the one I listen to the 2nd most often.

Cat Stevens. Ryan Adams/Pearl Jam/The Jealous Sound/Tracy Chapman ( not near as much as Cat Stevens or Xiu Xiu ). neutral milk hotel (now my second tattoo, although xiu xiu will always be my first) what did you get for a nmh tattoo |
