i feel, as many threads we have on the subject of not pirating 'the air force', it would only be wise to create one for the sole purpose (or at least for the first page and a half, until the conversation turns) of discussing star trek, i mean the ripping of 'the air force', the fifth album of xiu xiu's catalog:
being that i've followed xiu xiu ever since the release of 'knife play', carefully compiled and recited their various releases, and tried as best to be a part of a community of fans (believe me, people is not my strong suit) i only find it appropriate that i listen to their releases, as soon as they are made to the public, that is, as soon as they are put online, on cdr, on whatever it may be. i plan, like all others, at least everyone who has made the point of making it known, to purchase 'the air force' as soon as it is released. i've consistantly bought their records upon the release date, and i plan to do it again.
we all love xiu xiu, and jamie stewart's body of work, or perhaps we should say now, xiu xiu's work, as it is becoming more and more apparent that they are now, an actual band, rather than one person. if jamie worries about the sanctity of release, or the uncertainty of fans listening to recordings, without purchasing them, he has nothing to worry from fans such as myself, john, miranda, patrick, or any other of us, as i am sure we all will go out and support one, if not our most, favorite band. we're not listening to snoop dogg after all (apologies to snoop dogg/snoop doggy dogg fans. please, no one-eight-sevens, that goes for you as well addict)
shalom.
