i came back from studying abroad in the us for a year, and went to my best friend's house the same evening. she'd burned a mix cd ending in "ian curtis wishlist". she had to stop me from listening to that last track over and over again. subsequently i hid under her bed and we got drunk.

in the year 2002, my girlfriend, jill mentioned a group she had seen around st. louis called xiu xiu, the name caught my attention, for no reason really, and i soon downloaded 'i broke up (sj)', liking it, and definately sounding nothing like what my feeble ears had heard previously (nirvana being my favorite band at the time, just coming off a stupid affair with korn) i soon ordered their first record 'knife play' off amazon, not being able to find it, and thus my love grew. also john and miranda are great friends  |
