question about something in the interview

so, i'm currently in possession of the interview that was done a few weeks back, and it's almost finished, but i'm trying to figure something out before putting it out there... anyone know what a "croatian" is when referring to percussion? apparently, there's a type of bell that xiu xiu uses that jamie hates the name of, so they call them "croatians"... here's a brief quote from caralee"

"they're these little disk bells. They look like disks, but they sound sort of like regular bells"

any ideas?
