setlist for the glasshouse, in order
-i broke up -tonight & today -pox -new song (caralee singing) -brian the vampire -crank heart -saturn -happy birthday to freddy rupert -muppet face -sad pony guerilla girl (with caralee singing final chorus - also, very few of jamie's "mouth sounds") -yellow raspberry -apistat commander
the audience kinda sucked, and the band was obviously very tired, but it was a decent show... i really liked "tonight & today", and "apistat" sounded just as good as ever
also, freddy rupert (this song is a mess but so am i) was there, since he lives in the l.a. area, so jamie announced that he was 15 and everyone sang... freddy said he'd be at the troubadour as well, so we'll see if it happens again :-)
as for merch, they didn't have la foret or the paper chase split, so i was unable to pick them up for anyone who asked for it or myself :-( ... the only vinyl they had was knife play (rerelease) and a promise (is this the 4th printing now? it has a different pic of the naked guy [lying down], and the jamie/santa picture from the 5rc band info page is on the back)
they also had tour photo diaries, buttons, a few tshirts (which sold out), and a bunch of cd's

New song is the Wisconsin one I assume. Who's Freddy Rupert, if I might ask?

The show was okay, I agree with Dr. Strangelove (by the way, where you wearing a leather jacket? I think I saw you). But yeah, the crowd was less energetic than before, but I was really excited that they played Apistat Commander. I really want to go to the Troubadour show tonight..

New song is the Wisconsin one I assume. Who's Freddy Rupert, if I might ask? freddy rupert is the singer (well, band really) of this song is a mess but so am i, who xiu xiu did a split 7" with once... freddy used to always open for xiu whenever they came through the l.a. area, and freddy even toured with xiu xiu through canada as the opening act... a few tours back, freddy went with them as "merch guy," and at every show, jamie announced it was freddy's birthday and had the audience sing "happy birthday"... he's a really great guy The show was okay, I agree with Dr. Strangelove (by the way, where you wearing a leather jacket? I think I saw you). But yeah, the crowd was less energetic than before, but I was really excited that they played Apistat Commander. I really want to go to the Troubadour show tonight.. yeah, i was wearing a leather jacket and a scarf... i love scarves... i'm actually happy it's cold enough right now in california to wear scarves at night i'll be wearing either a pea coat (that is too big) or a long, grey tweed coat tonight (the leather wasn't warm enough), along with another scarf

dr. strangelove, i saw you/spoke to you at the show last night at the troubadour!
i was with my girlfriend, and i told you i liked your shirt. then that girl got all crazy drunk and we stuck around afterwards to see her make an idiot of herself in front of caralee
i cant believe she got onstage and accosted her. jaime was really nice about it.
anyway, awesome. i think ive actually spoken to you on aim before, in march when they played at the echo. werent you the guy who got the show recorded on cd by the soundguy???

yeah, that was me (both last night, and the echo thing). nice meeting you... sorry if i seemed a bit out of it; yesterday was a very long day... at least it all ended humourously; we both got front row seats for Drunk Girl
ok, so here's the setlist from last night (including the adventures of Drunk Girl [for anyone who cares; warning, it's pretty long]), in order
(first, at the end of the dead science's set, they played a hip hop/remix/something that they put together from xiu xiu tracks... i asked the tour guy, david, to send me a copy when he gets back, so hopefully i'll put it up somewhere soon; it's pretty funny)
(right before xiu xiu started, while they were onstage, Drunk Girl asks jamie to play "sad pony guerilla girl" ) -helsabot -don diasco -bog people -new song
(sound guy walks onstage and hands jamie and caralee towels... even though they're sweaty, they look at sound guy confused for a moment)
-sad pony guerilla girl (Drunk Girl goes nuts)
(Drunk Girl yells, "hey jamie, 'it feels retarded'", apparently trying to get jamie to sing "bunny gamer," but he responds as if she just called him retarded; she gets mildly confused)
-i luv the valley
(Drunk Girl begins declaring her undying love for caralee, and how she will one day marry her... drunk girl also begins having trouble standing, and her humiliated male companion begins the long, arduous task of trying to hold her up while also covering her mouth and preventing her from screaming through a few songs)
-mousey toy -yellow raspberry -tonight and today (i truly love this new arrangement)
(guy from the dead science runs onstage and "reminds" jamie that it is freddy rupert's birthday... jamie announces that freddy, who is a professional weight lifter, sometimes goes by the nickname "binky" {could have been "pinky"} - Drunk Girl sees this as an excuse to begin heckling jamie again)
-muppet face -i broke up
(caralee makes the mistake of moving to Drunk Girl's side of the stage [well, she had to play the next song]. Drunk Girl begins declaring her undying love for caralee, who is obviously getting frustrated... finally, caralee suggests "how 'bout we talk about this after the show? [something to that effect]", which i thought came across as a threat, but Drunk Girl understood differently... she began screaming her name so caralee would remember her... jamie apparently then said something witty/bitchy into the microphone that mocked Drunk girl, but i couldn't quite make it out since Drunk Girl was still busy trying to get caralee's attention [as if caralee couldn't see or hear her]... apparently, jamie's comment was funny; people laughed)
-apistat commander
(jamie and caralee take off, and the crowd begins disappearing... now, if you've ever been to the troubadour and looked up [and to the left], you know there is a "backstage" area for the band only with a window looking down on the crowd; well, jamie and caralee went up there, where they had some friends and band members from the dead science, and asked the sound guy to start breaking down equipment so they could avoid Drunk Girl, but she's not having it... well, she has no idea, really; she's busy flopping around the floor like a fish and humiliating her friends... finally, jamie comes down and starts packing up a bit of equipment, but gets stopped by a few fans... meanwhile, Drunk Girl is still having trouble standing, and caralee and probably 4 or 5 other people are standing at the window, watching Drunk Girl; caralee looks really angry. Drunk Girl starts talking to jamie, and i hear him say "yeah, she's pretty pissed," and he gives Drunk Girl a cymbal. then caralee begins to descend the stairs... when Drunk Girl sees this, she climbs onstage, runs over equipment, and right at caralee [surprisingly, she made it across the stage without falling over any equipment... it was almost somehow graceful]; when Drunk Girl makes it to caralee, she stops in front of her, stands there awkwardly while they stare each other down in silence, and Drunk Girl announces loudly, "you wanted to talk to me?"... i was too far away to make out the rest of the conversation, and at this point, i decided i was done laughing at the exploits of Drunk Girl, so i said goodbye to jamie and left)
if anyone stayed later and got video of caralee beating Drunk Girl down, it would make my day
oh, and Drunk Girl's male friend was videotaping large chunks of the show... i hope he releases them; we could title the files "an evening with xiu xiu and Drunk Girl"

oh god thats hilarious and completely accurate except for one part -
she did somehow manage to gracefully (and quickly) manuever around all of the equipment on stage but when she finally got to caralee....she fell to the ground right in front of her. that was hilarious.
using all of the clues i gathered from her constant screams, i actually found the girl on myspace and asked her for video/pics.

thank you for that correction... i was trying to reconstruct the events from the minimal notes on my phone, and i forgot about that completely... indeed, hilarious

Jamie said something to the effect of, "Don't worry, the next song is really loud."
Wish I would've stuck around after the show.

there was a drunk girl last time Xiu Xiu was at the Troubadour...but NOTHING to this effect. This is just crazily weird. But humorous at the same time. I hope it didn't ruin the show too much...
