Tonight's show was the fifth time I've seen Xiu Xiu, and was quite possibly the best.... Here's the setlist:
Sad Pony Guerilla Girl Pox Bog People Hello From Euclaire, Wisconsin Crank Heart Saturn Suha Brian The Vampire Tonite + Today Muppet Face Yellow Raspberry Apistat Commander Helsabot
Jaime's performance was amazing. It was the most emotional and intense live show I've ever seen. He really put his heart and soul into it, even more so than other shows I've seen. Crank Heart, Suha, and Brian were especially powerful; Saturn and Apistat were downright brutal but cathartic. Helsabot was a duet, sped up and almost countrified. I asked Jaime about the fourth song--he said it will be on the next album. Caralee sang it and her vocals were drowned by the music, but I remember it had a childlike melody for the chorus and a section where it got dance-y.
They had tons of stuff for sale--if you see them bring cash! I got Knife Play on vinyl and the photo book (#3 of 30). Jaime signed my record "My favorite shirt is from your finger tips." (I did give him a shirt I made--could he have remembered that?) Overall an awesome night. Thanks again Xiu Xiu!

Yeah, that was me. The horse shirt was for Caralee, the one for Jamie was a cassette tape with crossbones....

Oh, I remember the shirt exaclty and I could have sworn you unfolded it, handed it to jaime, and said "I read that you liked horses so I got this for you".
Weird that I'd remember that.
