An awesome show. Of the three Xiu Xiu shows I've been to, it'd be my favorite, musically. The show was in an nyu auditorium, so the show was sit down, VERY odd for an Xiu Xiu show, but not in a bad way. The best thing about the show was that the crowd waited until the amp of the guitar or the crash of the last symbal stopped completely before they applauded. I've never been to a show like that(i hear they do it all the time in japan)... they should all be like that. Part of what made this possible was that out of an 800 person theatre, about 300 came...which was because nyu barely promoted the event...bad for xiu xiu, good for us. Jamie started off the show saying, "we're going to play the setlist in reverse chronological order, I hope that doesn't make us seem like assholes", a nice touch. During crank heart, the sound guy made some mistake and the bassy synth line towards the second refrain was so loud that everyone's chairs vibrated, which was cool. Helsabot was the clincher, as I'd never heard it live before, let alone with caralee and jamie singing it at a pretty fast pace like when TITSJ did it. Have they played that live before?
Ummm...what else? The opener was Other Passengers, which were okay, but there songs have the ability to just pass through you, they're about 8 minutes long each and unmemerable; they all sound alike, and the vocals are barely audible.
