thursday night was one of the biggest dissappointments of my year. i had bought my xiu xiu ticket a month in advance and showed up extra early for doors and had been waiting for this show for quite some time. it was going to be the highlight of my week.
the venue, barbatis pan, was formerly a 21+ bar and resturaunt, and being under 21, i was shocked that they had 6 scheduled all ages shows for the next few months.
the doors opened finally and as i handed the man my ticket, he asked for my ID. i told him the show was all ages, it even said so on my ticket. he then informed me that a few hours earlier, the OLCC (oregon liquor control commission) had told them they couldnt have the show be all ages. i asked why they had just now gained this information and he told me that they had waited to ask until a few days ago.
i was refunded my money, by had to miss seeing xiu xiu. i was so dissappointed i wanted to just tell them to go fuck themselves along with the olcc.
so yeah... i was fucked over and didnt get to see my xiu xiu, because the olcc wouldn't let barbatis pan go a single night without selling their liquor. i understand that people want to drink, but considering they didnt find out until hours before the show? shitty planning.
