the show was at an all ages venue (rhinos) and it was accordingly packed with teens (which is awesome!!). das yellow swans played on the floor for about 20 minutes to like 10 people super into it, 10 people really not into it, and like 50-60 people kinda indignant (which is hard to pull off with that kind of decibel level).
xx played forever which was super awesome. they also made a list of songs they were willing to play and then passed the list around. whenever they finished a song, whoever was holding the list had to pick the next song!! it was really funny and awesome. so we got a good mix of stuff from all of the records:
in no order,
sad girl
suha
bog people
apistat
i broke up
poe poe
muppet face
crank heart
clowne towne
i luv the valley
don diasco
(i'm forgetting some for sure)
caralee singing the end chorus of sad girl is SO FUCKING AWESOME! she sounded amazing, and i'm guessing they're doing it that way all tour (they've done it the three times i've seen them).
also it was two kids birthdays so jamie sang them happy birthday while banging on the snare drum like a maniac. one of them was yelling for fast car, to which jamie responded "we don't really know how to play that. sorry. go listen to AM radio at any time of day and i promise you'll hear it."
everyone was SUPER into it and dancing alot. the electronics sound REALLY good this time around- all of the percussion whether programmed or live was perfect and powerful.
i think by no fault of anyone's, like 1/4 of the sound kept dropping out, including jamie's microphone and some other stuff. the sound guy looked REALLY DISTRESSED everytime it happened and kept running around trying to fix it. it happened about 5 differen times. jamie and caralee seemed a little annoyed also but what can you do.
the merch was plentiful-
like 6 styles of t-shirts (beware people of size like myself- almost all of the designs only had size small left in them)
7 year rabbit cycle LP
la foret 10"
another LP (a promise or fab muscles i forget)
the devendra/xx split 7"
2 or 3 styles of buttons/1" badges
all of the cds
photos of random things for donation $
a $10-$20 sliding scale canadian tour photo album
awesome!
they looked really tired/worn out before and after the show but were energetic and amazing during it. as much as i love seeing them, maybe they shouldn't tour so much!! they gotta take care of themselves!!
