do you guys think xiu will always play these 10-13 song sets or will they increase in size as xiu ages? its not as if im disappointed, if i get to the show late and see 1 fucking song ill still be extremely enthused. its just that im used to seeing people who play for awhile. radiohead plays 2+ hours, all of the pumpkins shows i saw were 2+ hours, zwans were at least 1 1/2, mars volta were 1 1/2+, etc...

if i remember correctly, jamie once said in an interview that he prefers somewhat short sets, as no matter how good the artist, the audience will invariably get bored... i think the 10-12 song set is perfect myself

those other bands (radiohead, mars volta) are working on a different level, too. when i saw radiohead they played two, maybe three encores, which is apparently a very regular thing for them to do. it was an insanely long show though, not that i'm complaining, but it was unusually long. i think it's good that jamie chooses to keep the sets short because it leaves open the possibility to hear new / different songs every time you see them (as opposed to them playing a solid half of their catalgoue each time), and, for me at least, if a show drags on too long my legs and lower back get tired / sore from standing in one place so long, and if i'm in pain i can't enjoy the show that much any more.

I liked the short set. Mainl ebecause I had to catch the train at midnight, and their set ended pretty much with 1 minute to spare to grab the train. Its good, and I didn't absolutely kill my voice by the end. Short and sweet is best in my opinion, the show they put on is great, so its great they even keep it up for around an hour, I know I couldn't do something like that.

mars volta, radiohead and zwan are not the same as seeing a band like xiu xiu in a club. i don't care how good the band is, like said before, people get bored, and tired of standing in the same place. a one hour set is more than enough for me.

I will be honest, by legs were really tired after standing on them for around 3+ hours straight. I don't think a longer set would be advisable or I might need to grab a pair of crutches.

i suppose there's a certain magic to the Xiu perpetually leaving me wanting more. it's a life lesson--you'll never be satisfied. i do dream, tho, of a pearl jam-esque three-day thing where they run thru the entire catalogue. but yeah, seeing as how a lot of the earlier stuff is in the grip of thieves, that will forever be a pipe dream.

i never get sick of xiu xiu. i think jamie could sit up there eating a bowl of cereal and i would watch and anjoy every bite he took. In my opeion, ive never seen xiu xiu play where i was totally satisfied with the tiem he played, i always wanted more.
