hello,
I was wondering if anyone was at Intonation Music Festival in Chicago, and if so, if they know the name of the song they played with Caralee on autoharp and Jamie on mandolin.

that was pretty cool, but it would have been cooler if greg saunier from deerhoof had come in for that song and played amazing drums. since they were there also.
i don't know if xiu xiu is really suited to festivals like that, but the la foret songs sounded good.

I laughed when I read this
Pitchfork: Becky?
Becky: I was most excited for Broken Social Scene, Les Savy Fav, the Decemberists, and also Xiu Xiu tomorrow. Jamie Stewart is just so angry!

the version of "hives hives" was beautiful, and even though i had heard "muppet face" before, the white noise blast still made me jump in surprise (especially because of it coming out of those giant speakers, and i was right up front). i was sort of disappointed at how short the set was. oh well. i'm glad i'll get to see them again in september in iowa city. oh, and does anyone know where cory was? i thought he was part of the touring troupe now...or was that just temporary?

when i saw xiu xiu play in toronto and brantford recently, they played that version of hives hives on the two nights.
and i'm really hoping there's a recording of that version, SOMEWHERE. i like it a lot more than the original.
when i saw them perform that version in toronto, i actually cried. not many bands can do that to me, especially in public like that.
it's one of the most beautiful songs i've ever heard in my life.

actually, i was wrong... the echo show cut off at track 7... the live version of hives from that tour was recorded at the claremont show... if you catch me on aim, i'll send it, as long as you promise to send it along, since i've been getting lots of requests for it
