yes, i mean, i can see a fan connection to both bands, but musically theres absolutely nothing there, ive read two reviews so far of 'la foret' where they make that comparison and it really makes no sense It makes sense to me - Fair enough to long-time listeners you are more 'aware' of the music and can be more creative in your comparisons, but to a journo who has probably never heard them before it's certainly the vocals that strike you first, and so in that sense I can understand the bright eyes reference. I think it's not so much musically but just the emotional singing-style used; in my opinion I'd rather listen to XX than BE but I can kind of see where that comparison comes from in the vocal style... when I first heard XX I thought the vocals sounded like the drug-fuelled love-child of Conor O and Paul Banks [Interpol]..  |
