there was a rumour a while back that xiu xiu would break up after their fourth album, following the tradition set by the smiths. this was based on the fact that jamie said that xiu xiu were attempting to follow the very quick release schedule of the smiths. however, he has also denied this rumour on numerous occasions, saying that they'll stop creating music when they don't think they're very good anymore, or something to that effect

Jamie: THIS is really funny, because I've been asked this question at least forty times and it is totally not true. Everytime I get asked and I'll refute it. I don't know how this thing has perpetuated. I believe the origin of it was that one time, somebody asked why we'd put out so many records so quickly and I believe I replied that we were trying to reproduce the release schedule of the Smiths. And I think they took that to mean that we were only releasing four records. Which is not the case. We'll put out.... If we start to suck, then we'll stop putting out records. So, I don't know, we'll see. |
