"Xiu Xiu and Devendra Barnhart Drop Split 7"? Paris Hilton Doesn't Care
Listen up kiddies, two of your favorite freak artists toured together a while ago -- sometime in 2003, if my eyes are reading this information correctly. While on tour there were some tracks recorded. On Xiu Xiu's official website, there is a mention of a release called Life and Life, which is described as a "special collection of acoustic songs and live songs (*recorded on solo tours w/ Devendra Banhart of North America during the summer and the fall of 2003)," to be released on Xeng, a label that seriously needs to redesign its website with some CONTENT. However, there is no specific mention of this recording being a split EP with Devendra. Meanwhile, on Kill Rock Stars' website, cleverly hidden deep within the ranks, is an upcoming 7" split with Devendra Barnhart.
Tracklistings are nowhere to be found, which is why I am unsure about the content of Life and Life. There is one thing I am certain of, however: Xiu Xiu will be releasing a 7" on April the 15th. It's just a matter of time before we find out if Mr. Freak Folk himself will indeed be making a guest appearance. The upside to this rumour is that we potentially have two releases in the coming months from my favourite knife play artist. But I'm not holding my breath.
To spearhead the inevitable enquiries I'll have on this topic, I went ahead and shot off the top of a four year old girl's head, and Mr. Stewart, I have to say that it felt very very good. Of course I took the necessary precautions as outlined in your 2003 instructional album entitled Fabulous Muscles [TMT Review]. I should warn everyone that this album does nothing for your physique, and instead actually decreases your immunity to jocks. Think I'm kidding? Head down to the nearest college, locate a frat house, rip out their "new" Franz Ferdinand album and drop in Fabulous Muscles. Hilarity shall ensue. "
which lead me to this on KRS.
