hopefully they'll tour after LA FORET (not Forest) comes out. I got Fag Patrol at the NYC show...great cd. Nice acoustic versions of some newer version of songs "brooklyn dodgers, jennifer lopez".

I just got Fag Patrol after seeing the Cambridge show. Helsabot is my new xiu favorite. It's definetly a good idea to pick up a copy. The stripped down acoustic renditions add entirely new dimensions to the songs. In fact, some of them sound even edgier with this treatment.

I totally agree. I mean, how many bands (even if they are "indie") would bother to come to Ottawa, let alone come three times in a year-and-a-half. Xiu Xiu has so much respect and LURVE for its fans. We lurve back.

um, sure. respect and love. that's why they do it. it's totally not to make a living or anything.

Of course it's to make a living, too, but if they didn't appreciate the fans, they would get jobs and put out the music without touring (or touring much less frequently).

the fans buy tickets to the shows and they buy merch.
the only way to support yourself as a musician is to tour; if you get a job, you can't ever have time off to tour, and it's difficult to maintain or increase record sales w/o touring. it's pretty circular.

thanks for stating the obvious. of course there is a financial incentive to tour, but I am inclined to believe that they enjoy it as well.

um, sure. respect and love. that's why they do it. it's totally not to make a living or anything. They're doing a free show in my state next week. Oh they'll make some dollars off merch, but I think that shows some respect and love.

I'm the only one who bought Fag Patrol in a store? I bought it in October in San Luis Obispo at Boo Boo's. I love it oh so much.
I bought Chapel of the Chimes from Caralee in February at the Merced show. Love that EP too.
