I just wanted to take a general concensus and see what others think the lyrics of "Little Panda McElroy" mean. I've heard some say that it is about self injury, so I was curious for others' opinions. Thanks!

To me it's a love song. A dreary love song, true, but full of hope for the future.... Oddly, I consider it one of Xiu Xiu's most upbeat songs....

i think there's an element of self-injury in it, but i don't think it's the focus of the song necessarily. i've always considered it a love song from a previously self-destructive person who has found hope

I agree that it's a love song but not a romantic one. It's obviously written for Caralee, so it's more a song of thanks for a powerful friendship. It is a song that has a "happier" tone, but I am interested in the reference to self injury.
