yes its real, its acoustic veriations of older songs plus a couple different ones and a smiths cover

"fag patrol" is generally referred to as an ep, as it's shorter than the other albums, and only a few of the songs were new (for xiu xiu).
it's basically "acoustic" performances of the following songs:
1- helsabot
2- king earth, king earth
3- 20,000 deaths...
4- dr. troll
5- jennifer lopez
6- brooklyn dodgers
7- asleep (cover of morrissey song)
8- i broke up
9- nieces pieces
it's one of my favorite xiu xiu cd's though, as the quiet performances give a level of intimacy that i find fascinating, and the versions of "helsabot" and "jennifer lopez" on this cd are my favorite versions of those two songs... actually, this recording of "helsabot" is my favorite xiu xiu song/recording period
