I've used both the microkorg and the ms2000, and basically the ms2000 is just a more professional version of the microkorg...the major difference is price. the micro is a good beginner synth
microkorg: $399 ms2000: $749

I used to use a Nord Lead 2... sexy, SEXY synth.
I switched entirely to soft-synths, though. Mostly Reason 2.5

I use a classic a Casio MT-100 primarily now, but I have a fondness for the SK-1. Because I don't have much musical "know-how," or any kind of "steady income," I just buy up old keyboards frm garage sales and thrift stores, and blast them through some guitar effects pedals and different old amps until I get a sound I like. For some examples, check out these songs: www.pahardcore.com/bands/bands.cfm?id=10585The first one features the beautiful "portamento" feature of the SK-1, and the other two use the MT-100. Oh, yeah, the MT-100 has cool beats! (check out the first song again). _Lester

I have an Arp Odyssey and Omni, a freeman string symphonizer and a multivox synth, as well as a rhodes. i don't recommend most new synths, unless you put them through some good pedals for the most part they sound pretty cheesy

I recently bought my first synth and the decision had been between a Korg MS2000 and a real analog synth, a Roland Juno-106. The 106 won out just because I love the way analog sounds. The Korg, for how nice it is, still sounds slightly... thin... and plastic. And it's only 4-voice polyphony which is just BUNK for anyone who wants to make a nice lush pad. You gotta have at least 6 IMO. The only bitch is that the Korg is maintenance free and new. The 106 is 25 years old. And it has to be callibrated and shit every once in a while. But, I highly highly recommend the 106. It sounds incredible.
