Is Jaime ever gonna re-package and re-release all those previous recordings? I'd very much like to hear them, as, from what I understand, several of those songs have been re-recorded by Xiu Xiu. How does he feel about that early stuff--has he said?

generally, jamie has spoken fairly negatively about the pre-xiu xiu stuff. for xitsj (ten in the swear jar), he usually says something along the lines of: they were a great live band, but the recordings sucked. as for IBOPA, he just generally seems to have disdain for the albums. in an e-mail interview i did with him about the early work (for a section of the fansite), he responded to the question "is there any specific reason why you seem to despise the ibopa albums?" with: "aside from the bass playing, they are not good." if you can't find the albums, but want the physical discs, watch ebay... i've picked up most of my ibopa stuff on there. you can generally get "ballads for ben padrone" for a decent price, although "squids: obsession..." sometimes gets a few bids. the "when you write" 7" is actually available somewhere online... this guy found a warehouse full of the discs and said he was selling them online for like $5 or something... if you search through the old threads on here for ibopa, you might find something... *edit* ok, i did the work for you the thread is here: shzine.proboards10.com/index.cgi?board=xiuxiu&action=display&thread=1087591238*edit* actually, i just searched for the 7" and found a "reissue" of it... i'm not sure if this is an official release, but here's the link: www.midheaven.com/artists/ibopa.htmlas for xitsj, you can still purchase "my very private map" online: www.absolutelykosher.com/merchandise.htmlas for "inside of the computer..." and "eat death! orphans", good luck... i still can't find a physical copy of "eat death!" if you don't care about having the discs, all of the albums/singles/eps i listed above are online. get on soulseek, and watch for other members of this board oh, and if you catch me on aim, and you're really nice, i've been known to send files aim id: dr strangelove j hope that helps... good luck

i was thinking, if anyone cares, of actually going through a bunch of pre-ibopa stuff that i think might be OK and putting it out in a very small release. stuff from about 10 years ago. does that seem like something people might want to check out? i just moved and found a pile of DAT tapes in a box. lemme know
