This post is only meant to be read by Owen, but I guess you can read it, too. (Kiddddddding)
I'm super curious to hear what other music you (y'all) are listening to. Does anyone know Lali Puna? German electronica. It's fantastich.
For a wild techno ride, check out Schrodinger's Cat by Nömak. Incredibly innovative.
Also, one of my favorite bands is Pinback. Their very first song, Tripoli, on their first album is a good place to start.
Also just discovered David Lang (from the soundtrack of the movie (Untitled)). Some great stuff, like "Increase."

To be honest, I don't listen to music for pleasure that often. It reminds me of work. When I play a video game I turn the music off. I drive the car with the radio off. I've been spending four-to-five hours a day writing lyrics and practicing my set and finishing new songs, I don't have all that much bandwidth for "other people's music"!
I do go to gigs, though. In the past two months I've seen Jose Contreras, Alex Lukashevsky, Xiu Xiu, Picastro, Bernice, Holy Oak Family Singers, Aline Homzy, Ryan Driver, and prob many others I'm forgetting.
Pinback has always been one of my favourite bands and (tbh) a huge influence, I love that clinical sound.

Thanks for the response, Owen. Excited that you also love Pinback. Wish I could have seen them in Las Vegas a few weeks ago.
I'm curious about your influences (or likes) more broadly. Favorite fine artists? (Mine are Jenny Holzer, Barbara Kruger, Marina Abramović, and Laurie Anderson--I read that you met Laurie in NYC?)
Favorite movies? Not sure if you like science fiction, but "Coherence" is fascinating. Also love Darren Aronofsky and Ari Aster -- "mother!" and "Beau is Afraid" are powerful.
Hesitant to even mention books since that's a deep subject....
