Ticket links are now up, go to www.owenpalletteternal.comIt's pretty exciting, I haven't played England-outside-of-London since 2014 as far as I can remember? Should be great. And I've never been to Killarney or Kilkenny. Wow. I can't wait to play the new songs, too. It's the first time since Heartland that I've been writing the songs "on the looper". It takes a lot of forethought but it's proving to be worth it.

Oh wow.. that’s brilliant news. I’m doing grandad duties on 24th so bit annoyed with missing Nottingham, but plan to make Bristol and Manchester.

Paris!!! In a boat! (Or “floating cultural venue” lol!) I’m trying to hold off booking any more trips til I know if I’ll still have a job then but I really want to do Bruges, Lille and Paris (I was going to do Bruges and Manchester but Paris is much more exciting ) I’m really struggling to find a hotel in Lille though (there must be something happening then!) so it might not be possible to do that one. But anyway, I am definitely coming to the Elb and Glasgow - can’t wait to hear the new songs! There was that show in Coventry in 2015 in the market hall with all the sofas and huge bits of metal decorated with planes… but yes, other than that it was 2014! The one time I saw you in Glasgow was the one year I wasn’t living here so I’m very excited it’s finally happening

Currently making plans to tour Europe with Owen. I've never seen him perform live in person before so I'm really excited! Currently Planning on flying to Amsterdam and going to most shows until Antwerp (except maybe Paris or Lille). Is it a bad idea to try to get every show every day for a tour like this? Would I wear myself out?

So is Owen just opening for the Villagers or is he collaborating with them in some way? The Villagers shows work better with my schedule but if I'm going all the way to Europe to see Owen, I want to see the shows where it's Owen that gets to shine.

Currently Planning on flying to Amsterdam and going to most shows until Antwerp (except maybe Paris or Lille). Is it a bad idea to try to get every show every day for a tour like this? Would I wear myself out? Wow, sounds like an amazing trip! The Amsterdam to Antwerp section of the tour (and Hamburg to Amsterdam) should all be easily doable by train, although with all the travel (plus the time it takes to get to/from hotels) you likely won't have much time to see any of the cities properly. If there's a place you particularly want to visit then it might be worth skipping a night, but you're not bothered about that then it might be better to try and fit in as many gigs as possible! If you look up train tickets for random days that have already been released it should give you an idea of prices, it's usually much cheaper to book well in advance. In terms of physical tiredness, consecutive standing gigs can be tiring but I usually find it much more tiring trying to cram in as much sightseeing as possible when I'm travelling (like if I have a day in a city then I'll end up doing 10 miles of walking to try and see as much as I can), while long train journeys give me time to rest. But I often find it difficult to sleep after gigs because my brain is too hyped up to wind down, so I'll wake up feeling tired, spend all day worrying I won't last the night, then when the night comes I'm totally fine and struggle to sleep again so the cycle repeats! So I'll never book travel before 10 or 11am to make sure I can still get a decent amount of sleep. But other people are good at sleeping and don't have that problem! A few times I've done 6 gigs in 7 nights (for other artists, the most I've managed for Owen is 3 times in 4 nights) and no matter how tired I am I always forget about it when the show starts and the excitement takes over, so even if I wear myself out it's totally worth it! I don't know if you're considering the first couple of shows, but Riga to Hamburg would be quite a challenge - I have a good friend from Lithuania who's doing Riga so I did briefly check and it looked like the only option was a 7am flight! So is Owen just opening for the Villagers or is he collaborating with them in some way? The Villagers shows work better with my schedule but if I'm going all the way to Europe to see Owen, I want to see the shows where it's Owen that gets to shine. I'm not 100% sure - I thought they were just support sets so I was prepared for it to be like half an hour (or 45 mins if we're lucky), but looking at it again it says "special guest" rather than support so perhaps that means a longer set...? The 2 French shows are with Chris Cohen, but it looks like they're joint shows so I imagine it'll probably be an hour each like with the Hidden Cameras. Antwerp is an hour long festival set according to the ticket page, and I think the others are normal headline gigs so I'd imagine maybe 70-90 mins?

For sure, that's why I'm skipping Hamburg and one or two of the French shows. I already worked out the train schedule, there's a really awesome travel website called rome2rio that aggregates a bunch of different modes of travel. I'd be just riding 1-3 hours each leg, which I imagine would leave a good amount of time to check out the cities and do other things. I staying in hostels and packing just one change of clothes in one backpack and washing the one I'm not wearing every night, so that I'm totally mobile and don't have to check in and out of hotels. I've never done this strat before, but I've seen it touted by veteran travelers.
Definitely not doing Riga; I wasn't going to do Hamburg, but now that I know about the young history about the elbphilharmonie I might reconsider, I booked my flight to arrive in Amsterdam on the 18th just to enjoy the city a bit more, so I could get a train ticket from there to Hamburg...
I just sort of fully expect to be in constant jet lag lol. A lot of these cities are just as pretty at night anyway!

I’ve booked to go to Hamburg, Bruges and Paris (plus Glasgow and Manchester) and I just got a weird email from French Seetickets saying that the Paris show has been postponed to 22/11/24 at 8pm… which is the same date and time it was supposed to be??? If google translate can be trusted then it says underneath “NB: The organiser may have indicated a postponement giving rise to the right to refunds, without having yet defined a new date and/or a new location. This email then mentions the initial date and location. We will relay any updates to you as soon as we have been informed.” so it sounds like a very confusing way of saying that it’s not happening anymore Is it just this show or the whole tour that’s postponed? (And if it’s just Paris is it like a few weeks’ postponement or sometime next year?) Edit: So I just checked the website and it still says Owen’s playing but doesn’t mention Chris Cohen (the email said the event “Owen Pallett” has been postponed and didn’t mention him) so maybe this is just an extremely strange way of saying that Chris Cohen has been taken off the lineup? I hope that’s all it is!!!

The Paris and Lille shows were originally scheduled as co-bills with Chris Cohen, but Chris has unfortunately had to withdraw from both shows. The shows were “rescheduled” to allow ticket holders who were solely interested in seeing Chris to be refunded, but the shows will otherwise be going ahead with another equally wonderful artist on the bill, to be announced shortly!

I am pleased to report that I got a phone call this morning telling me the Hamburg show is sold out. I can't tell you how happy I am. Generally, tickets are selling extremely well across the board. Island came out over four years ago but I still feel like I haven't toured it, really, having had to cancel four scheduled tours due to COVID resurgences.
I'm still hard at work on new songs. I hope to be able to play three (maybe four) of them on this tour. I've got a title for the new album and sketches for everything, it's coming together slowly but surely. These shows, I think, are going to be really, really good.

Just got out of the first concert to kick off the tour, at Kulturhuset in Stockholm (13 Nov 2024).
The new arrangements are STUNNING, y'all are going to love them. The new songs (there were three, titles tbd) are also fantastic, haunting, and beautiful, and I am so looking forward to their new album.
Owen seemed to be enjoying themself today. It was nice to see them smile, be relaxed, and have fun.
Here was the setlist for those of you curious:
1. Song for Five and Six 2. New song 1 3. Paragon of Order 4. Fire-Mare 5. The Great Elsewhere 6. New song 2 7. Perseverance of the Saints 8. The Butcher 9. Song Song Song 10. New song 3 11. E is for Estranged 12. The Riverbed 13. The CN Tower Belongs to the Dead 14. A Bloody Morning (request) 15. Peach Plum Pear (request) 16. This is the Dream of Win & Regine (request) 17. Lewis Takes Off His Shirt (encore)
Those with tickets to the rest of the tour are gonna be in for a real treat.

I'm flying over to Amsterdam tomorrow to see Owen and I have tickets for both nights in Dublin where he's playing with the Villagers. Owen, whatever you play will be absolutely magical but if I can be cheeky and make a request for The Arctic Circle and/or Better Than Worse that'd be phenomenal.
