this is apropos of nothing but i've been polling my friends & acquaintances about their favorite Arcade Fire album lately, and their answers have fascinated me. i'd love to hear your favorites (and your reasoning). i believe Owen's is Neon Bible?
mine is Reflektor, which i think isn't a super popular opinion. so many of the songs are just (for lack of a better word) epic, with these amazing sonic builds and cathartic moments of beauty and emotion. it feels like well realized high art, and it kinda touches on every imaginable emotion: bright and confident, devastated and depressed and longing... also fucking david bowie on backup vox? come on.

The Suburbs is also my favorite. I was 12 years old in 2010; I have distinct memories of riding my bike around my cul de sac and thinking "wow, this guy gets me."
I actually haven't listened to their discography (just misc songs and The Suburbs) since around that time. I wonder what album I should start with if I wanted to do so now? Your description of Reflektor sounds beautiful.

I think their first album is a great place to start, but I really love Reflektor (especially the second half). The Suburbs is definitely close second for me. Weirdly, I wasn't incredibly into it until I heard Father John Misty's cover of the title track.

My favourite albums of theirs are The Suburbs, s/t and Funeral. From the other albums, I really like "Antichrist Television Blues", "Here Comes The Nighttime", "It's Never Over" and "Electric Blue".
