Thanks for making this post! I think it's great to have more boards where we can talk to other people on these forums, even when it's not related to Owen news.
I don't play solo games much. Right now I only have Lord of the Rings Online (a bad MMO where I can pretend to be a hobbit) and Heroes of the Storm (an equally bad MOBA) on my laptop. I used to play League back in the day but my bandwidth wasn't good enough. (mhmm if you still read, feel free to DM me and we can talk junglers.)

Oh i used to play a of Heroes back in the day, but i fell off before the playerbase went down. And League of Legends i can't play because of my sanity beacuse holy canolli, the playerbase is sooo toxic And yeah, i would love to make similar threads. This place thows me back to a time when the internet was so simple and manageable.

I've been playing a bunch of Minecraft mostly to stay in touch with my friends. It's really relaxing... Solo, I usually play GTA or Destiny or some other dumb shooter. the Far Cry games are fun. Trying to get my girlfriend to play Bioshock currently (I still think it's one of the best examples of video game storytelling; the remaster has aged really well)

I'm mostly a Nintendo person, Legend of Zelda is one of my favorite series (maybe the Korok icon here gives that away) and I, like many others, have been really enjoying the new Animal Crossing. I sometimes play games outside of your typical Nintendo installments though- another favorite series and guilty pleasure of mine is the Assassin's Creed series, and I also enjoy Dishonored and The Witcher (although admittedly I've read the books more than I've played the games, at this point in time). I've fallen out of it as of late, but Pokemon is another series that I've loved for many years.
As for recent video game ventures, I've been making my way through the Ace Attorney series for the first time, and I've been enjoying those a lot. Definitely a reason they're considered classics. I actually have a couple Owen songs on my playlist for one of my favorite characters from it, ha ha.
Happy to see a casual conversational board on here for a topic very much up my alley! You all have great taste in games :-)

I'm not a huge gamer, I'm a gamer like people enjoy the beach. A couple of times a year I need to decompress so I turn off my phone and just game for a few days and do nothing else. Since quarantined, I replayed Dark Souls (on Switch, a magic user) and Resident Evil 4 (also on Switch).
My favourite games of all time, by how much time I've sunk into them:
1. Ancient Domains Of Mystery-- the OSX port. I've won this game some four or five times now, including three "special" victories-- two Avatar Of Balance, one Avatar of Order, never managed an Avatar of Chaos win. The song "Paragon Of Order" is derived from a specific (and extremely difficult) way of winning the game, where you get through the entire game without committing a single chaotic act. I do not play with cels, I play with ASCII graphics only.
In general I'd say that rogue-likes are my favourite. I played Moria when I was 6 or 7 on my dad's work PC and was just super, super into the genre, and always have been, and love the text-based graphics. I've won Nethack (with a LOT of FAQ help) but ADOM is the only one that I'm an expert at.
2. Tetris-- I played The New Tetris (N64) constantly in my early 20s, and recently got back into Tetris 99. I devised my own method of winning that does not rely on T-spins-- it is not as reliable a strategy as T-spinning, but it prioritizes fast clean-up over all else and I do great in competitive play-- I'm a top ten finisher 90% of the time, and win about 1 in 10 games.
3. Zelda (series)-- A Link To The Past and Breath Of The Wild are my favourites. Link's Awakening (the original) and Majora's Mask are runner's up.
4. Castlevania (series)-- I've played and won all of them, but Symphony Of The Night is far-and-away the best.
5. Shmups-- I'm not a twitch master about them, but I adore them as a genre. I turn my TV on its side and play Ikaruga on my Switch from time to time. The game I got the best at in this genre is Einhander (PSX).
6. Skyrim. I played Daggerfall as a teen for a week or so, but Skyrim blew me away. I've played through it three times.
7. Dead Cells. I can't beat the game on 3 Boss Cells but I still try from time to time. Seeing real players sail through the game intimidates me.
8. Grand Theft Auto. 3 and 5 are tied for my favourites-- the ones in between were all weird and slimy and I didn't like them so much.
I enjoy Ico, but a recent play through of Shadow Of The Colossus left me cold. I enjoy Mario games but Odyssey really turned me off. I don't really like Final Fantasy games except for 6, or any other such RPGs. I like MGS2 but not-so-much any other games in the series-- I have yet to try MGS3.
These days I'm really into Bridge, i.e. the card game, and I'm trying to get real good at it. I started learning it so I could play w my grandma, but she passed before I was even remotely at her level. It rules, it is such an amazing game.

Oh, and I'd probably put Dark Souls on that list too except that I've never owned a system that can play anything aside from DS1 (Switch). I love Dark Souls so much-- everything I love about Skyrim and rogue likes put into one game. I have a feeling that Bloodborne will end up being my favourite of all-time.
I enjoy shit like Half-Life and Resident Evil as well, played Modern Warfare and enjoyed it, but I'm not into masc games for some reason

Owen, what sort of character do you play in Skyrim?
When I was 15 I played a rougeish khajit with unbeatable stealth, invisibility to boot, and illusion magic that could cause enemies to either stop fighting, or fight each other. Originally I made him as a female model but shortly before i realized i was trans i used my ultra hacking skillz to change the model to male. Go figure. That was my fondest save file. Also he was married to Brynjolf (the ginger leader of the thieves guild) bc he had an Irish accent to die for. There was a mod that's sole functionality was to let you marry Brynjolf, which I considered worth.

Did anyone play The Last of Us Part 2?? Was obsessed and played through it twice...
I found the DS1 port on Switch had really bad audio and it kinda ruined it for me.

S**t, i haven't responded here, i got a busy week so, i will go one by one, because i really appreciate the reception of this thread, love you guys! <3 I've been playing a bunch of Minecraft mostly to stay in touch with my friends. It's really relaxing... Solo, I usually play GTA or Destiny or some other dumb shooter. the Far Cry games are fun. Trying to get my girlfriend to play Bioshock currently (I still think it's one of the best examples of video game storytelling; the remaster has aged really well) Minecraft has been my stress releaver after a stressful week of work, so it's nice to build some architecture or little fantasy villages with my friends on Discord. I tried so many times to get into GTA, even i got a copy of GTA V for my PS3 and nope. It's not my jam. Far Cry tho, is dope and more fun imo. As for Bioshock, both the first one and Infinite are my faves of all time. You all have great taste in games :-) Glad to see a fellow Nintendo Lover here, and yeah i spot the Korok love there hehe. If you want PM your friend code and we coordinate to greet you on my AC's Island (no relation) but first i have to clean up my island because i haven't played in weeks. The Witcher series i dearly love and i had so much fun doing Wild Hunt's side missions. Ace Attoney is so dope and the music on that game it's stellar, my fave so far is Apollo Justice, i had a fanfic based on that game back in high school xd. Did anyone play The Last of Us Part 2?? Was obsessed and played through it twice... I found the DS1 port on Switch had really bad audio and it kinda ruined it for me. I think they patched the bad audio issue since launch, so everything is good now. As for The Last of Us II, i'm avoiding spoilers here and there and i won't play it untill by the end of the year. I've been replaying the first one, it's good but the sad parts gets me everytime so i have to resume when the game doesn't compromise my mental health. So much of it rn feels real (minus the clickers) And finally... I'm not a huge gamer, I'm a gamer like people enjoy the beach. A couple of times a year I need to decompress so I turn off my phone and just game for a few days and do nothing else. I enjoy shit like Half-Life and Resident Evil as well, played Modern Warfare and enjoyed it, but I'm not into masc games for some reason Frist, my dearest condolences for your grandma, second, i apreciate the long response <3 I've tried my best on Rouge-likes like Diablo, Angband and ADOM and i used to love them back in the day, now i don't have the time to play them that much. I wasted years of college on Dwarf Fortress, it was mind-blowing and fun, but never again. Does Minecraft Dungeons count?? You might like that one. I have a friend that plays Tetris "casually" but she keeps kicking our asses every single time, and she's a monster on Tetris 99, one day i will get her, i really do. (wonder if one day we could face off on Tetris 99 if matchmaking happens lol) I lovo Metroid-vanias so much, Dead Cellls tho, its a challenge, i still cant get pass 2 Bosses, but felt burned out when they keep adding stuff to the game, have you tried Hollow Knight?? If not, it's a must have! The Soundtrack it's phenomenal. Ico is a gem, but i like Shadow of the Colosssus a lot more, it's weird i know, but every boss battle it's so engaging, maybe it's rough on the travenling system. MGS 3 it's the ultimate Metal Gear Solid, plus i love the James Bond vibe and it feels self-contained, more than the first one. MGS2 final sequence still gives me the chills to this day, can't believe that Kojima predicted the future TWICE. Mario Oddysey it's fun but once you get very into it searching for every moon, but at the end of the game, the ton of moons feels so overwhelming. Dark Souls it's a series that i enjoy a lot, the storytelling in that game it so rewarding in so many levels, and the enviroments are so pretty. I forgot there was a Switch port, so might pick it up one day and try to get pass Anor Londo again...without getting beated like every 10 minutes, as for Bloodborne, if you could find a PS4 for cheap soon (or wait for a PS5, it has PS4 retrocopatibility so it might work) son you should! (pun intended). ------- I wanna try to replay some of the games mentioned, I'll definitely check out again Dark Souls and Bioshock again, i need to grab the switch copies tho. Do you guys have favorite game soundtracks? I'm revisiting Super Mario Galaxy and Celeste OSTs, those are really dope!! and i wanna examine them for my songs arragements. Also, for those who have a Switch, feel free to add me. NickFlower: SW-7860-2909-8584. Bonus: I don't really like Final Fantasy games except for 6 something something "i'm a liar, giving facts to a false fire"...

I have been playing so much Valorant. Hours every day. There are only one or two games that I have ever been elite at in any sense, and I'm hoping that I can get good enough at Valorant to be a top 10% player. This is the first time I've taken a game quite so seriously in a competitive manner as a player. If anyone plays: I got up to Platinum 2, but have since dropped back down into Gold. I was crushing as Reyna for quite a while, but as soon as I hit Platinum my entry fragging became useless. I'm going to start using Aimlab more often to hone my mousework and I need to spend time just learning angles--my reflexes are pretty decent but I'm missing headshots often. I think it would be easier to just drop myself to a support position (Sage or Brim, probably) because my awareness is solid and I'm reliable when capitalizing on trades, but I really want to be an effective fragger. Just gotta grind.
Re: card games: I have played hundreds of hours of Setback (otherwise known as Hi-Lo-Jack, or Pitch) in high school and college, and just picked up Euchre and Hearts for the first time. I'm enjoying Euchre although it doesn't scratch the same gambling itch for me that Setback does. I tried to learn Bridge preliminarily and got very discouraged by the idea of "convention" and put it down. I'm curious though--I know people love it, and I have more resilience now than I used to when confronting new game systems. Do you have recommendations for Bridge resources for learning?

Alright I hit my "fuck this" point with Bridge--when bids don't mean what they actually are, I do not like it at all. Stayman conventions are just table talk without breaking table talk rules--there isn't a line of reasoning that gets you from your partner's bid to their hand pattern--they're just explicitly giving you hand pattern information by previous agreement. That's kind of lame to me.
However, I *LOVE* the mechanic of the bid winner getting to play their partner's hand. The dummy hand being public information, and as a result, the asymmetry in what information teams have, is so cool to me. At this point, my dream would be a convention-less Bridge-style bidding process and regular Bridge rules for the card playing section.

Happy to see Breath of the Wild mentioned here. I've just been totally immersed in it since December of last year and I still don't feel even close to getting tired of it. I don't really have time for other games because if I'm gaming I'm playing BotW. It's so great.

Also i've been replaying a lot of Final Fantasy IX, Super Mario RPG and Donkey Kong Country lately. This thread for some reason made me replay a ton of Super Nintendo titles. <3 I was about to buy Dark Souls for Switch in order to invade Owen's world but idk he might kick my butt
