So I should maybe start by saying I haven't bought a record in over a decade. I seriously can't remember the last one it's possible it was Has a Good Home. I've used Spotify but I currently don't have a phone (I have one but its half broken, I can still use it to take pictures of my cat).
I'm guessing most people buy stuff digitally and listen on their phone with headphones? I'm currently using a laptop for internet browsing and it's audio output kinda sucks even with good headphones. Sometimes I'll listen to a youtube track on my Dad's studio system if I want to hear something in detail.
I still listen to music on youtube but it's kinda hard to find new stuff. Is there still an indie music scene or did it dry up? I've spent most of the last 10 years listening to synth music from the modular dudes on muff wiggler but it got kinda tiring as it was mostly just weird noodling or synth patches.
Generally if I want to listen to music I just make my own which is fun but sometimes I get uninspired and want to listen to something else.
Last record of Owen's I listened to was Heartland which I thought was pretty good but it didn't get the repeats that the first 2 did for me. If I want to listen to his new stuff whats the best way? I have no money to buy anything am I stuck with bandcamp or is it all on youtube? I feel so out of the loop.
I don't use social media and have no friends so I don't get any recommendations for music to check out it's like being lost alone at sea except I just live at my parents house and do fuck all this world sucks ass or maybe I suck ass. who knows? sorry for the probably unreadable post but I refuse to edit my work or sort out my thoughts.
Also I tried to sign up for a new account here but it wouldn't let me so I'm stuck using this cursed one.

I listen to a crappy Ontario radio station that plays Drake and Justin Beiber a million times a day which is dope but who is actually a good artist these days other than Owen who is probably still kickin ass somewhere I dunno I stopped checking his twitter years ago

there used to be all this shit that made finding music easy, stillepost, chartattack or whatever that site was that kept track of the college music radio stations, hypemachine (again i can't remember if that's its name but it was a site that kept track of music blogs).
Are music blogs and college radio still even a thing? I find out about a fair bit of music through skatevideos but these days its all instagram posts with soundcloud rappers over it, kinda hard to get into as a white canadian.

I uploaded a few of my morning reflection beats to soundcloud but do any real people actually use soundcloud? I can't bring myself to tag my shitty music with genre names. Honestly can't bring myself to mix my stuff or even do overdubs heres some jams from like a week ago. They all suck obviously. soundcloud.com/user-35182782-90989724

What attracted me to Owen in the first place is he was pretty much doing everything himself. At the same time it seemed selfless in a way the way he would construct his sets and often embarrass himself for the amusement of complete strangers. Do people still do that?
Who is individually pushing the boundaries of modern music like Owen was doing in the mid/late 2000's I need a new Owen to be honest where are they hiding?

So I youtube searched "Owen Pallett" and listened to the first half of Islands and I wanted to shut it off a lot of times but made it through the first side and clicked the thumbs up on every track even tho I didn't really like Paragon of Order not gonna thumbs down my guy like that. I need to smoke more weed to get through the 2nd side I feel like the truest Owen album would keep my attention the whole way through. My suggestion is to use samples like a dirty cheater the guitar sounded pretty thin to my ears but the vocals sounded great even tho I don't care for your singing or vocal melodies

Listened to the rest and it's a good album maybe a bit too serious for my uneducated ass to comprehend but I liked it and only wanted to shut it off like 4 times which is pretty good for my attention span.
Was expecting there to be more percussion and violin but it almost felt like a Les Mouches Album more than the FF/OP that I remember.
What I'd really like to hear from Owen would be more electronic beat heavy music but with classical influence and decent counterpoint. Something I can fuck to ya know?

I'm watching Owen's cbc q interview and damn it's depressing. I had no idea Owen was working with all these big names and recording in Abbey Road that's so rad. But who the fuck is this interviewer guy saying stuff like oh you get to work with all these geniuses no you dumbass all the morons get to work with Owen the actual talent get it right Q.
If you think being a contract composer is isolating try being unemployed with no friends and having no one love you ever. You got it so good man
