ive heard a version of that outkast song "hey ya" which sounds very xiu-ish, very very xiu-ish. has anyone else heard this and know if it is xiu? or if not has anyone heard it and know who it is? or has anyone not heard this song and lived an incomplete life without it?

hi. i live with the blankket! steven (aka the blankket) runs a label called blocks recording club out of toronto. the blankket is his "covers" project that usually does bruce springsteen. live it's just him and an unplugged electric bass, it's really terrific. the blankket released a limited to 100 3" cd with "hey ya" and "love goes to building on fire" (by the talking heads). i was just in sweden and heard it in a club there which was nice considering the blankket is basically steve's bedroom project. if you like that song "hey ya" you should listen to the barcelona pavilion, his other (and greatly superior) band. if you want to hear "hey ya" you can download it at www.blocksblocksblocks.com. or even better you should send away for the "toronto is great!" compilation (a measly $5 CAN with 24 awesome toronto bands you've never heard of). steven's currently working on a blankket album called "be your own boss". and putting out records by lots of other toronto bands. as for steve sounding like xiu xiu, well, he's always sounded like that. but we both agree that xiu xiu is the greatest band in the world. next to maybe beat happening and crass on steve's part, and the boredoms on mine. as for his involvement with the hidden cameras it was important and wonderful but a long time ago. sorry. i do go on. but steve is my best friend and i'm glad people are talking about him. thanks.

yoicks! the hidden cameras haven't broken up! steven's just not in the band anymore.
and thank goodness. he's been doing far more interesting things since.
there are no plans for a barcelona pavilion album as far as i know. only future eps.
but their new songs and singer are incredible!
ohohohohoh the new singer, vanessa fischer, is also in a band called domaine d'or. they're new album is going to be amazing. it sounds, actually, a lot like xiu xiu, (why else would i bring them up?) except domaine d'or are way weirder.
