There were about 200+ of us tonight enthusiastically cheering and, yes, dancing to the Xiu Xiu sounds.. since last seeing them when they were a 3-piece i was impressed to see how together they still are as just Jamie and the girl (i dont know her name, or where she came from but she's great)... glad to hear all my knife play favourites, and some great hits from the new album.

I tried to start a dialog about the concert on the TTC on the way home -- I was so absolutely floored by Xiu Xiu's performance and I was hoping to share experiences with some of my fellow fans, but no one seemed to compelled to bite. Oh well, to each his or her own, but this chap has never felt anything quite like that.
And on top of the humbling performance he gave, Jamie seemed like the most gently polite person, it was wonderful!

I'll never, for the life of me, understand why people come to these kind of shows just to yap with their friends. I wanted to deliver a flying drop-kick to the heads of everyone chattering in back of the room during the quieter songs. Colour me neurotic, I guess. Anyhow: The show was far too good for the hipster-socialites to ruin. Yay.

ya it was kinda brutal, the funniest conversation i overheard while they were playing 'fabulous muscles' went something like.
'Iron Maiden was the shit!? and now my MOM likes them !!'

Jamie reminds me of a friend of mine...jamey. in that I get the feeling when I see them that they simply FEEL more than other people. In the case of the later jamey, she laughs at things that i don't necisarily find immediately funny, cries at things when the get a little emotional, gets mad at things, in general has a creater capacity for feeling. Whilst I feel like I've managed to burry any emotional baggage that might creep it's way up under years and years of sociatal norms. I don't know I just get the feeling that jamie stewart is a alot like my friend in this respect, more feeling than is normal within one body.

How about a little courtesy? For the musician, for the people who actually came to see that musician? I mean, if this had been at the Horseshoe on a Friday or something, I'd understand the yapping in the background. But this was late on a Sunday, at the Gladstone ballroom, while Jamie Stewart was whispering his songs on stage in hugely rare appearance. Why come if you don't really care about the music? There are hundreds of pubs & clubs in Toronto -- go hobnob there. Blah.
