Hi, everyone. I am Jim, from China. The movie's Chinese name is ÐãÐã, which should be pronounced as Xiu4 Xiu4 in standard Mandarin. It sounds like "show show" in English. While in the movie, especially in the beginning, it happens in the city Chengdu, SiChuan Province. People there speak with a strong accent, so the name sounds like "sheeow sheeow", just a little bit different.

So toady i learned that "shoe", or xiu or shoo, means potato in French, and is actauly slang for darling. So manybe in some weird way xiu xiu means darling darling in french, it's spelled chou, and it actually means cabbage, not potato.

its okay. when i first saw the name when fag patrol came out i called it "Zaiooo Zaiooo"
i think i take the cake for worst assumption of how its pronounced. HOWEVER, that was a long time ago.

yeah, like me I'm glad I read this, because I always thought it was pronounced like "ski-you" but with the "sk" inverted to "ks" Now my friends won't make fun of me when we talk about "shoe shoe"

shoe shoe, or shoo shoo however u wanna spell it. probably cause thats how in english its the best way to go about it. maybe if james were chinese he would've pronounced it the other way...but be it as it may he's not and it's like what goes on your feet, but much more....different. at least its not poo poo or pee pee, but if i had a band i'd call it poo poo pee pee...but i don't, so i won't. great strategy, HUH!?
